Wynonna Judd has weighed in on the recent scandal surrounding country singer Kacey Musgraves.

Musgraves, 38, made headlines earlier this week after she branded explorer Christopher Columbus a 'loser' on stage during the Dallas stop of her Middle of Nowhere tour.

When asked about Musgraves' controversial comments on a Fox News podcast this week, Judd implied that it was better to keep politics out of entertainment.

'She has the right to do that, but that doesn't mean it's the right thing,' Judd began.

'When I go on stage, I'm keenly aware that people spend money on the ticket. And I never hear from my fans, "Hey, would you come out and sing 'Grandpa' and tell me what your political view is?"

'My job is to be an entertaining person. My job is to show my gift and to let it trickle out into the audience and for them to connect with me and for them to go home feeling better than they did when they got there.'

Judd, who has had 19 No. 1 singles on the country charts, then said that she'll perform for anybody regardless of their politics.

'I've performed for seven presidents, Congress, the Senate. I'll go anywhere and sing to anybody. I don't care about all that and people just don't understand that,' she said.

'Music is for everybody, that's what's so great.'

While Judd hasn't publicly declared her political preferences, she visited the White House during Trump's first term in 2019 to advocate for criminal justice reform and to talk about prison reintegration initiatives.

Her friend, Rosie O'Donnell, has also publicly stated in the past that Judd is a Trump supporter.

Earlier this week, Musgraves went viral after slamming Columbus in the middle of her concert.

Video of the shock moment showed Musgraves address the crowd, asking, 'Yeah, that's right, on this day? What day?' with the crowd shouting back 'Indigenous Peoples' Day!'

Musgraves, clad in a sparkly leotard and cowboy hat, responded, 'Obviously f**k Columbus. Literally the lamest person to probably ever exist. Like for real. What a loser.

'What a loser Christopher Columbus, we hate you!' she added.

Columbus Day is celebrated annually to highlight Italian Columbus's journey to discovering the New World.

But in recent years, there has been a push to downplay his place in history and remove the holiday named for him because of the treatment of Indigenous people.

Indigenous Peoples' Day has been around since 1977 when it was first introduced at a United Nations conference, and for several years it has shared the same day with Columbus Day following a 2021 federal proclamation from President Joe Biden.

Musgraves is one of country music's biggest stars, winning the Grammy Album of the Year and Best Country Album for her 2018 record Golden Hour.
