World of Warcraft: Midnight is finally here and it's brought with it a whole raft of new content to get stuck into, in what is the second in a three part saga for the storied MMO.
As well as all the usual fare of fresh dungeons to conquer, an endgame raid, a massive story to work through, and a season of PvP approaching, there's plenty more to collect and unlock.
One of the first things you might want to do is unlock the Haranir as a playable Allied Race. Players were first introduced to the Haranir as part of The War Within, as the ancient guardians of the Rootway. They look great, and they have just become usable for the first time, so here's everything you need to know to unlock the Haranir and start leveling your first one.
How to unlock the Haranir in WoW: Midnight
Bethesda EntertainmentFortunately for those of us who don't like to keep track of too many things at once, the process for unlocking the Haranir is a relatively simple one, if time-consuming.
Essentially, the only requirement is that you need to complete the entire Harandar Campaign, which encompasses three questlines, which we've detailed with individual quests below:
-
Of Caves And Cradles
- Harandar
- The Root Cause
- To Har'athir
- The Rift and the Den
- The Den of Echoes
- Koozat's Trample
- Echoes and Memories
- Echo of the Hunt
- Echo of the Call
- Down the Rootways
- A Hut in Har'mara
- Tending to Har'mara
- The Council Assembles
- To Sow the Seed
- Burning Bitterblooms
- Halting Harm in Har'mara
- Culling the Spread
- Seeds of the Rift
- The Traveling Flowers
-
Call of the Goddess
- Watch the Den
- The Hunter Awaits
- The Foundation of Aln
- Consequences of Our Duty
- Dampening the Call
- Descent Into the Rift
- The Madness Roots Deep
- Grinding Out a Solution
- Before They Grow
- Herding Manifestations
- The Greater They Aln
- In Search of the Problem
- The Missing Rootwarden
- Can We Heal This?
- Alndust in Right Hands
- Righteous Pruning
- Our Beloved, Returned
- At the Root
- Into the Lightbloom
- Tell the People What You Have Seen
- Culling the Light
-
Emergence
- The Frenzied March
- Cull and Burn
- Stem the Tides
- Expeditious Retreat
- A Last Resort
- Survive
- The Gift of Aln'hara
- Light Finds A Way
- Quelling the Frenzy
- Rise of the Haranir
Now, obviously, that's a very long list of quests, but it's relatively linear, and if you've got about four spare hours, you shouldn't run into too much trouble along the way. Be aware that, during the campaign, the portal to get back to Harandar will be in Fairbreeze Village, before it moves to Silvermoon City more permanently once you have completed the questline.
Once you've done all of that, you'll also pop the achievement Allied Race: Haranir, which also grants access to the very cool new mount, the Ivory Grimlynx.
Haranir Allied Race Available Classes
Blizzard EntertainmentAs with all races in World of Warcraft, the Haranir aren't able to operate in any class. If you do decide to level a fresh character with this Allied Race, then you'll be choosing between Druid, Hunter, Mage, Monk, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior. That makes 9 out of the 13 possible classes, which isn't bad going (most of the others are ruled out for lore reasons).
That's all there is to know! Make sure to check back in for more WoW Midnight guides as we approach the launch of Season One on March 17.
