Woody Harrelson roasted for rambling speech honoring squirming Harrison Ford at Actor Awards: 'Is he stoned?'

2 hours ago 8

Woody Harrelson is being trolled for his rambling speech presenting a lifetime achievement award to his friend Harrison Ford at the Actor Awards.

Harrelson, 64, swaggered onstage and started off well, getting a laugh on a joke about how most of the actors there would be 'losers' by the end of the show.

However he soon began to meander and lose the crowd, to the point even Ford, 83, could be seen squirming in the audience, possibly in half-jest.

At one point, Harrelson admonished the audience for being 'tough' after 'I f***in' write these jokes for you,' and at another he got distracted by the sight of Kate Hudson and suddenly chirped: 'Oh, hi! I just saw Kate.'

Fans leapt to X to wonder whether Harrelson, known for his enthusiasm for marijuana, was 'stoned' during the shambolic monologue.

'Is Woody Harrelson drunk?' one viewer asked as another sniggered: 'I'll have what Woody Harrelson is having and I also raise my glass to Harrison Ford.'

However he soon began to meander and lose the crowd, to the point even Ford, 83, could be seen squirming in the audience, possibly in half-jest

Many actors in the audience seemed to enjoy the chaos of the moment, such as Hudson, who lapsed into gales of laughter when Harrelson wandered off track because he caught sight of her in the audience.

He initially got respectable laughs with his speech, such as when he introduced 'one of the greatest actors of all time, who has made so many classic films, and he is among his peers truly and deeply beloved - Leo DiCaprio. Sorry, Harrison Ford!'

However his subsequent Friars Club-style roast jokes about Ford earned gradually diminishing returns, such as: 'Of all the actors in the world, you're one of 'em,' and: 'Everyone in this industry...knows you.'

Harrelson left the crowd cold when he began to prattle about how Ford 'never emails, he only texts' and 'I have no phone so I only email - friendship impediment really.'

He then launched into a bit about how he was the third in line to make the speech, with Helen Mirren as Ford's first choice and Kamala Harris behind her.

That disquisition was such a damp squib with the audience that Harrelson sighed: 'You guys are tough, man. I f***in' write these jokes for you.'

However he got a laugh after he hailed Ford as 'a master carpenter who built his own home. I don't know how to work the coffee machine and it's a French press.'

When that joke raised a bit of mirth from the crowd, Harrelson grinned and said: 'You guys are finally getting me. Thank you. It's about time,' to an even bigger laugh.

Some viewers reacted with hilarity at Harrelson's efforts, while others were distinctly unimpressed, grousing that he 'stunk' and theorizing that he looked 'high as f***'

'Listen, I realize there's too much of me in this tribute to Harrison. But I'm an actor. What do you respect?' Harrelson said as he wound down the speech.

'And I have a dual purpose - to honor my friend, the esteemed living legend Harrison Ford, and two, to discourage any other friend of mine asking me to do this again.'

Ford received a rapturous standing ovation as he walked up to the stage, where he shared a warm embrace with Harrelson before beginning his own speech.

Some viewers reacted with hilarity at Harrelson's efforts, writing on social media: 'I love everything that is wrong with Woody Harrelson,' and: 'Woody Harrelson is so funny. was literally laughing the whole time #ActorsAwards.'

Others were distinctly unimpressed, grousing that he 'stunk,' theorizing that he was 'high as f***' and that Ford's wife Calista Flockhart 'looked p***ed,' and marveling: 'Jesus Christ what is Woody Harrelson rambling on about.'
