Blasphemous as it feels, I might even prefer Wonder Woman’s “Discowing” suit over Dick’s original...
The "Discowing suit" is the fan nickname for Dick’s first Nightwing costume, introduced in Tales of the Teen Titans #44 (1984). Recognizable for its daringly low neckline, gold sequin-like accents, and unmistakable 70s flair, this outfit has achieved iconic status among Dick Grayson fans and remains fondly remembered.

Now, however, Nightwing isn’t the only one embracing this retro style. In Wonder Woman: Uncovered #1 by Ivan Cohen and Marguerite Sauvage, Diana sports a strikingly similar costume. This one-shot showcases some of Wonder Woman’s most memorable covers, with Cohen and Sauvage adding new art and dialogue—Diana’s “Discowing” homage being one of the standout additions.
Wonder Woman Officially Gets Her Version of Nightwing’s ‘Discowing’ Suit
Cover D Card Stock Variant by Serg Acuña for Nightwing #113 (2024)
Wonder Woman: Uncovered sees Wonder Girls Yara Flor, Cassie Sandsmark, and Donna Troy browsing a collection of Wonder Woman’s iconic cover art, sharing their insights and reactions along the way. In one unforgettable panel, Donna and Cassie pause at an image of Diana in an unfamiliar white and gold ensemble, sparking curiosity since neither recalls her ever donning this look. This playful moment hints that Cohen and Sauvage added this outfit purely for fun, rather than implying it’s part of Wonder Woman’s official costume history. Regardless of its canon status, this outfit undeniably makes a memorable impression.
Diana is shown in a sleek, white jumpsuit with gold accents that highlight her biceps, hips, and chest, complete with high-heeled boots. The suit’s plunging neckline and exaggerated collar evoke a bold 70s flair. As a die-hard fan of Nightwing’s Discowing suit, I couldn’t help but draw comparisons: the deep neckline, flared collar, and eye-catching gold details make this look feel like a chic homage. Blasphemous as it feels, I might even prefer Wonder Woman’s “Discowing” suit over Dick’s original—its elegance and power give it a unique, unforgettable charm.
Wonder Woman's Discowing Suit Is My Ultimate Cosplay Dream Come True
Diana’s Gold & White Costume Combines My Two Favorite Things: Nightwing & Wonder Woman
Seeing Wonder Woman’s white and gold Discowing-inspired suit is nothing short of a cosplay dream come true. For years, I’ve imagined a female version of Dick Grayson’s iconic Discowing costume, and while I could have gone the genderbent route, that approach never personally appealed to me. Now, to have one of my all-time favorite female characters, whom I already love cosplaying as, sporting her own Discowing look feels like it was made just for me. I only wish I had discovered this outfit sooner—I would have loved to debut it this Halloween.
As someone who has explored various Wonder Woman looks, this white and gold jumpsuit is by far the most unique look of Diana's that I’ll be adding to my cosplay portfolio. To create the costume, I plan to start with a white jumpsuit that captures the general shape and flair of the suit and then add custom-made gold accents to achieve its bold, 70s-inspired vibe, with a matching pair of high-heeled boots to complete the look. Overall, it should be a relatively simple costume to assemble with a final result that’s nothing short of show-stopping.

Wonder Woman’s New Costume May Have Been Inspired By Fanart
Comic Panel From Superman/Wonder Woman: Futures End (2014)
While I'm fairly certain the gold and white costume in Wonder Woman: Uncovered isn't a canon outfit, it does bear a close resemblance to the suit Diana wears at the end of Superman/Wonder Woman: Futures End (2014). The resemblance, however, isn’t exact—particularly in the upper design, where the Futures End version has a bustier style closer to Diana's classic look. It’s also possible that the Uncovered design was inspired by a viral fanart piece by Robnix on Deviant Art, which closely mirrors this style. Regardless of its origins, I can’t wait to make this Wonder Woman costume my own.
