Returning after a lengthy hiatus, Jimmy Hudson’s Poison lives underground in Monster Metropolis when it’s overrun by Zombiotes and the Merc with a Mouth. In a sudden symbiote-enhanced berserker rage, the son of Wolverine shows off a surprising new power in the preview for Venom War: Deadpool #3 - written by Cullen Bunn with art by Roi Mercado, colorist Dono Sanchez-Almara, and letterer VC’s Joe Sabino.
When battling with a Carnage clone-bonded Deadpool, Poison uses his long symbiote tongue as a seventh claw to stab Wade Wilson in the face. The shocking move is an outlandish amalgamation of two Marvel icons.
Wolverine and Symbiote Powers Combine to Make the Freakiest Version of His Claws Yet
Though Wolverine has many children throughout Marvel’s multiverse, Jimmy and his Poison symbiote have become a unique, monstrous mix of the mutant hero and his alien symbiote physiology after infection. Jimmy is Wolverine’s son from Marvel’s old Ultimate universe, later moved to Earth-616 and bonded with the Poison symbiote during the Venomverse saga. As the publisher’s resident mash-up of Wolverine and Venom, Jimmy’s new persona as Poison is unleashed upon the world in bold new ways as a result of Venom War and the Zombiote invasion. After snapping into a rage, Poison is unbridled in an extreme show of power.

Besides his claws and healing factor, Wolverine has been host to many different powers throughout the year, but these are his deadliest.
Turning into a giant symbiote monster version of Wolverine with huge claws, Poison is already a formidable force without pulling out any new tricks as he turns against his fellow monsters, zombiotes, and citizens and picks a fight with Princess and Deadpool’s new combined form. However, the tongue stabbing maneuver used with his newly-revealed prehensile claw is a freaky and ferocious fight move that totally catches Deadpool off guard. Poison’s seventh claw provides the sheer pain and vicious violence of a knife attack while also being creepy and way too intimate, sure to make any of his victims’ skin crawl.
Why Poison’s Tongue Claw is a Perfectly Wild Addition to Deadpool's Venom War Tie-In
The twisted new secret weapon for Poison is a pretty disturbing addition to the character’s abilities, but the tongue claw works as he goes up against a comedic character like Deadpool. The mortifying mouth-to-face attack is hilarious when used in the preview and fits perfectly as the wisecracking antihero Wade Wilson rejoins the world of monsters in the Venom War crossover event. As Deadpool makes a joke about only accepting a similar stabbing from eight of his enemies, and hopes to spark a social media debate about it, it helps the invasive tongue lashing remain funny instead of totally disgusting.
As the Venom War comes to a close, the major symbiote event could be the last time many of their bonded heroes, villains, and everything in between have a real time to shine. Since Jimmy almost kills Deadpool’s doglike Carnage-clone daughter Princess, and he subsequently promises to go full John Wick on him and his Poison symbiote, the Earth-1610 refuge may not make it out of the crossover alive. Still, as the alternate world son of Wolverine terrorizes the Marvel Universe, his terrifying tongue claw is an innovative and inventive twist on Venom and his father’s powers.
Venom War: Deadpool #3 will be available November 13, 2024 from Marvel Comics.
