Wolverine's SHIELD Agent Redesign Is So Perfect for His Character, It Should Be His Main Costume

3 days ago 7

Wolverine has a handful of costumes he cycles through depending on what X-Men team he’s rostered on and what mission he’s undertaking on behalf of mutantkind, with his basic design and differing color schemes almost always enhancing Logan’s badass nature. Further proving this fact on an alternate Earth where Logan becomes a member of SHIELD, Wolverine receives a brand-new SHIELD-branded costume that works so well that it should be part of his permanent wardrobe!

Getting a new look on an alternate Earth thanks to the Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division, or SHIELD, this organization is most commonly associated with Nick Fury’s direction and utilizes scores of people who work alongside (and occasionally against) the superhero community to help beat back the tide of evil that's always threatening the Marvel Universe.

Using a piece of tech Reed left behind called the Multisect to “explore the wonders of the Multiverse together,” Johnny and Ben travel to a new reality where they’re immediately met by Wolverine and She-Hulk variants wearing unique yet familiar costumes exclusive to this alternate universe. Brandishing a SHIELD logo on his chest, Wolverine is dressed in a similar suit as his fan-favorite brown and orange costume most recently seen during the Krakoan Age, with this sleeveless version of the outfit giving Logan a more streamlined design while introducing enough subtle elements to make this redesign a resounding success.

This Wolverine Costume Nails the 1 Thing Every Cosplay Gets Wrong

One fan has officially elevated the Wolverine cosplay game by nailing a key costume detail that almost EVERY cosplay gets wrong in its recreations.

Sporting longer hair and a beard alongside a mask that’s nearly identical to the cowls Logan usually wears, the addition of a zip-down suit design, simple belt, brown gloves, and orange and black SHIELD sigil helps this outfit feel right at home for this iteration of Wolverine. Furthermore, this costume makes it seem like Wolverine's iconic mask is an optional addition to an otherwise professional uniform, as not only is he seen without it right after his debut, but the fabric at the back of the cowl is rolled up, insinuating Wolverine removes it and puts it on often.

As if fans need another reason to read this limited series, the very next issue shows a large-scale battle where other SHIELD hero variants, like Ms. Marvel, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Daredevil, and even Spider-Man, make their debut, showing that it’s not only Logan who visually benefits from joining the ranks of SHIELD but the entire Marvel Universe too! Wolverine becoming an official SHIELD Agent with a new costume to match is a brilliant way to give the character yet another instantly iconic design that would have no problem fitting in on Earth-616 as Logan’s mainstream look.
