As famous as Wolverine’s many costumes may be, the X-Men's most famous mutant has worn several divisive outfits. Logan's Fang is cluttered and crosses the delicate line between lighthearted and corny. Wolverine's late 1990s "Feral" era introduced an even more controversial look after Magneto ripped the adamantium from his bones, which led Logan to lose his nose and wear a ragged blue bandana mask to conceal his monstrous face. Generally beloved outfits like his white Patch tuxedo receive their fair share of criticism, as it differs too much from Wolverine's rugged aesthetic.
Since Wolverine is one of the X-Men who changes his wardrobe the most, he's bound to go through some outfits that divide readers.
Wolverine's New Costume Is A Holiday Version Of His Classic Design
Wolverine: Paradise #1; Written And Illustrated By Dan Panosian
Logan takes a long-deserved break in Miami in Dan Panosian's Wolverine: Paradise #1, but his vacation plans quickly change as he runs across Dazzler, whose live show pits Wolverine against Hammerhead. All along, Wolverine has been unprepared for battle, wearing only a vest with nothing underneath, plus flared jeans and red sunglasses. While fighting regular criminals, Wolverine doesn't even unsheathe his adamantium claws, as he tries to keep his superhero duties from messing with his vacation. Though, as soon as he sees Hammerhead enter Dazzler's show, all ideas of relaxation go out the window.
Wolverine's Paradise outfit is among the most casual costumes Logan has ever worn. When not in his classic yellow-and-blue, yellow-and-black, or tan-and-brown uniforms, Wolverine tends to rotate through a wide variety of reliable civilian outfits, which include his plaid shirts, leather jackets, tank tops, motorcycle jackets, and cowboy hats. However, Wolverine: Paradise is one of the rare times that Logan joins a serious battle wearing a beach outfit. Luckily, a lack of body armor is the least of Wolverine's concerns, considering the efficiency of his healing factor.
Wolverine's Costume Consistency Reflects His Worldview
Wolverine Can't Escape His Duties, And He Subconsciously Knows It
Wolverine: Paradise begins with Logan admitting he quit his duties after Jean Grey's latest death. However, the outfit he chose to retire to Florida includes a vest with his unmistakable tiger-stripe pattern, with yellow shapes on the sides of his torso and on his shoulders. If his unique hairstyle and beard weren't enough, Wolverine picked a vest that immediately draws attention to his identity. This seems to be a sign of Wolverine being unable to truly leave his superhero identity behind, as much as he tries to justify his change of location.
Wolverine starts his journey to Miami saying he "was" the best at what he "used to do," but it doesn't take him too long to accept that "trouble will sneak up" on him even if he tries to avoid it. Logan also admits that Dazzler could easily defend herself and her show from criminals like Hammerhead, but he still enters the fray to fight the mob boss and his followers. Wolverine can't cut his hair to close the X-Men chapter of his life, but he could abandon his costume entirely and start a life far away. He just doesn't do it because he knows the fight will always be pulling him back.
