Team Ninja revealed its next Soulslike on Sunday at the Xbox Games Showcase, and it's a sequel to one of its recent hits. Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will be released early 2027.
Expect the intense and stylish action Team Ninja is known for to return as the trailer showcases new powers and boss fights. According to its trailer description, "players must master the evolved Chinese martial arts and conquer battlefields of the Three Kingdoms overrun by monstrous demons alongside renowned heroes who left their mark on history."
The first Wo Long game released in 2023 and has been played by over 5 million players. It was received well by critics and fans, with Polygon's review stating, "With its intricate combat system and an equally evocative setting, Wo Long is a journey worth embarking on — even if it means devoting three more hours to your next boss fight."
Team Ninja is perhaps best known for its Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive games, but the studio has put out its fair share of Soulslikes. It's made three Nioh games and 2024's Rise of the Ronin in addition to Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will be released in early 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. It will be a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass.
