EXCLUSIVE: Writer/director Blaise Beyhan has set an all-star cast for his sophomore feature, New England Toys, with Willa Fitzgerald (Strange Darling) and Ruby Cruz (The Threesome) tackling the lead roles.
Others set include Paul Sparks (The Lowdown), Jason Schwartzman (Mountainhead), Jim Gaffigan (Linoleum), Jennifer Jason Leigh (Hateful Eight), Paul Fitzgerald (The Residence), Asa Germann (Scream 7), William Sadler (Our Cartoon President), Dylan Baker (Happiness), and Becky Ann Baker (Ted Lasso).
Plot details for New England Toys are being kept under wraps, though sources said the project is a period thriller. Production is underway in Buffalo, New York, with Beyhan and Robby Gutmann producing, and Fitzgerald executive producing.
The film is Beyhan’s second on the heels of the forthcoming Callback, an adaptation of his short of the same name, which also stars Fitzergald and Germann.
Breaking out with her buzzy starring turn opposite Kyle Gallner in the psychological thriller Strange Darling from JT Mollner, Fitzgerald has since then been seen starring in the Netflix medical series Pulse, with additional roles in Kathryn Bigelow’s House of Dynamite and Paramount’s Colleen Hoover adaptation Regretting You. In addition to Callback, she’ll be seen coming up in the thriller The Billion Dollar Spy with Russell Crowe. She is repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
Cruz has been seen on shows like Mare of Easttown, The Sex Lives of College Girls, and Willow, as well as in films like The Threesome and Bottoms. Upcoming, she’ll be seen in the fifth season of Apple TV’s For All Mankind and in the indie comedy Souvenir. She is repped by Gersh and Landsburg Management.
