We're currently midway through The Legend of Vox Machina season 4, and while we're stoked to see how Critical Role is adapting the last arc of Campaign 1: Vox Machina to TV, it's with the sad knowledge that the already-confirmed season 5 will be the last time we see Vox Machina's adventure together. Or so we first thought.

However, when Polygon asked whether this would be the last we'd see of this merry band of dysfunctional adventurers, Critical Role's Travis Willingham, executive producer of The Legend of Vox Machina and the voice of Grog Strongjaw, hinted that there was a chance there could be cameos of our favorite heroes in future projects.

“There is always a chance that characters will show up in campaigns or stories that they did not originally show up in,” Willingham told Polygon. “That's kind of the beauty of being able to pull the strings and change this stuff, so I would say it's highly encouraged for those sorts of appearances and cross-sections to manifest.”

Cameos from characters not originally involved in the campaign aren’t new to Critical Role’s animated adaptations. Season 3 of The Legend of Vox Machina introduced Zerxus Ilerez, a fiendish antiquities collector in the City of Dis. Zerxus, played by Luis Carazo, was not involved in the original campaign but was instead introduced in Critical Role’s miniseries, Exandria Unlimited: Calamity. Sam Riegel's player character, Braius Doomseed from Campaign 3: Bells Hells, also featured in an episode of The Mighty Nein.

Looking at the actual play show, the members of Vox Machina also made several guest appearances throughout Critical Role’s other campaigns and several one-shot spin-offs. Whether this means fans can expect adaptations of said spin-offs, however, remains to be seen. But if the hype for more Vox Machina is there — and it does look like it is, given its 100% Rotten Tomatoes score — we highly doubt that The Legend of Vox Machina season 5 will be the last we see of Tal’Dorei’s mightiest heroes.
