Acme is getting exposed in Coyote vs. Acme.
Wile E. Coyote was created by animator Chuck Jones and writer Michael Maltese. The character debuted in 1949 in a short titled Fast and Furry-ous as a parody of most chase cartoons in that time period, and was inspired by Mark Twain's Roughing It. The unfortunate character attempts to pursue the Road Runner by using highly dysfunctional ACME Corporation gadgets, which end up leading to disaster for Wile E. Coyote.
Now, Warner Bros. has revealed a new trailer for its upcoming movie Coyote vs. Acme as Wile E. Coyote sues Acme for all of its wrongdoings and how it's left him in several thousands of perilous situations with unthinkable injuries. The Looney Tunes adventure also boasts a star-studded cast, including Will Forte, Lana Condor, John Cena, and P.J. Byrne. Fan-favorite characters will also be making an appearance, as seen in the trailer, including Bugs Bunny, Tweety Bird, and Daffy Duck.
"After decades of being blown to bits by bombs, demolished by dynamite, mangled by magnets, battered by boulders, trampled by trains, tricked by tunnels, sprung by springs, steamrolled by steamrollers, maligned by misfires, bedeviled by bungees, rattled by rockets, backstabbed by bat suits, rocked by rocket skates, upended by unicycles, quaked by quake pills, rubberized by rogue bands, and hurled headlong off every cliff in the Southwest, Wile E. Coyote (Genius) finally fights back.
Teaming up with billboard accident lawyer Kevin Avery (Forte), he takes on slick corporate counsel Buddy Crane (John Cena) and ACME, Inc., the profit-obsessed conglomerate behind every one of the Coyote’s chaotic catastrophes."
The live-action/animation hybrid film is directed by Dave Green, known for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows and Earth to Echo. James Gunn is also attached to the movie as a writer, and is known for Guardians of the Galaxy, Superman, and his upcoming movie releasing later this year, Supergirl.
The film has taken over a decade after being stuck in development, and was shelved by Warner Bros three years ago, making fans of the Looney Tunes franchise unclear if the movie will ever get a release date. Ketchup Entertainment acquired the film in 2025, and just before the trailer was released, Deadline reported that the company has entered into a distribution partnership with V10 Entertainment as they will lead sales efforts across Ketchup's entire film catalog.
Coyote vs. Acme will be crash landing into theaters on August 28.
