Why Timothée Chalamet Is Skipping Grammys 2026 Despite Nomination

1 week ago 11

Though Timothée Chalamet earned his first Grammy nomination for his work on A Complete Unknown, the Marty Supreme star skipped out on the Trevor Noah-hosted ceremony Feb. 1 as he was in London.

Why Timothée Chalamet Will Be Absent From Grammys 2026—Despite First Ever Nomination

Timothée Chalamet’s whereabouts during the 2026 Grammys are completely known.

And unfortunately, the red carpet of the Trevor Noah-hosted ceremony is not at the end of the line for the actor.

Though he earned his first Grammy nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media as part of his work on the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, the 30-year-old will not be on-hand to celebrate music’s biggest night. After all, he’s all the way on the other side of the pond in London.

Indeed, though the Grammys mark A Complete Unknown’s award swan song—it competed in the film categories last year—Timothée has been busy promoting his latest movie Marty Supreme. In fact, he joined Four Weddings and a Funeral director Richard Curtis for a Q&A at the Prince Charles Cinema before stepping out at the London Critics' Circle Theatre Awards, where he scooped up the Actor of the Year trophy.

And it seems he’s just getting started as in addition to his latest accolade, he’s also won a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice Award. Still to come, of course, are the BAFTAs, the Actor Awards—formerly the SAG Awards—and the Oscars, all of which he is up for Best Actor for his work in the Josh Safdie ping pong movie.

While his mindset has been firmly in ping pong mode as of late, he still took a moment to share insight into how he felt about being among fellow 2026 Grammy nominees Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga and more. As he marked the feat on his Instagram Stories on the Nov. 7 nomination day, "Dream Big."

But despite his tongue-in-cheek note on social media, the Little Women alum has been candid about what being surrounded by his peers—and receiving support for them—has meant to him during his career.

“I can’t downplay the significance of this award because it means the most to me, and I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness,” he said after winning Best Actor at the 2025 SAG Awards. “I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats. I’m inspired by the greats. I’m inspired by the greats here tonight.”

And though Timothée won't be among those musical greats at the 2026 Grammys, keep reading to see all the stars who did step out for a glamorous musical night in Los Angeles...
