ABC is not airing a new episode of Grey's Anatomy season 22 tonight, February 5, 2026, and there's a good reason why. Unlike the previous year, the network has done a better job scheduling the latter half of its 2025-2026 TV cycle. Shows like 9-1-1 and Grey's Anatomy weren't subjected to extended breaks during the year. That said, it doesn't mean that they will no longer have mini-hiatuses throughout their run.
Grey's Anatomy season 22 has been busy thus far. The year started with a major character death, followed by a string of crises for both the personnel at Grey Sloan and their patients. In its latest episode, "Strip That Down," Addison Montgomery made her triumphant return to Seattle and even pulled Amelia out of her sabbatical. For those who are looking forward to what comes next for the people at the iconic PNW hospital, however, there will be a bit of a wait.
Grey's Anatomy Season 22 Is Currently On A Break
ABC (via MoviesStillsDb)Since returning from its holiday break, Grey's Anatomy season 22 has already released four episodes consecutively. That said, there is once again a disruption in its schedule. This time, it isn't pre-scheduled like its annual winter hiatus. ABC has yet to release an official reason for pre-empting its whole Thursday primetime line-up, which means that even 9-1-1 season 9 and 9-1-1: Nashville won't be airing new episodes tonight.
There are two potential reasons for the break. Firstly, it might have something to do with the Winter Olympics in Milan. While NBC is primarily doing the coverage, other networks may be opting out of releasing new episodes of their shows, knowing that the focus will likely be on the sporting events. Secondly, it might be part of ABC strategically scheduling its scripted shows in light of the so-called sweeps weeks, which determine the ad rates for the rest of the year.
When Grey's Anatomy Returns & What To Expect From Season 22, Episode 11
Grey's Anatomy season 22 is confirmed to resume its regular scheduled programming on February 26, 2026 — around a month since it entered its ongoing hiatus. Admittedly, it's quite frustrating to deal with this new break, but the good thing is that ABC has released the trailer for the outing. Granted that the network has yet to officially roll out its title and synopsis, but the promo clip offers an idea of what to expect when the Seattle hospital reopens.
Firstly, it seems like Amelia is ready to enter her next relationship after the death of Natalie at the start of the year. Whether this new affair lasts long is uncertain at this point. Meanwhile, Bailey is determined to save a seriously-ill patient, which results in her stern speech to Lucas. Finally, Grey's Anatomy season 22, episode 11 will tackle a particularly intimate case, as a patient claims to have given himself a vasectomy.
