Rebecca Falcone has threatened to continue trying to destroy Cooper even now that the settlement has been agreed on in Landmanseason 1. Among Taylor Sheridan's TV shows, Landman is the newest and among the most exciting, fulfilling the void that Yellowstone's finale left behind. Billy Bob Thornton leads Landman's cast as Tommy Norris, an oil company's crisis management executive whose chaotic family and work lives begin to intertwine.
Tommy's son, Cooper, began the season working his first day on an oil patch and was present during a terrible explosion that claimed the lives of three men. Rebecca Falcone is a big-city lawyer who's arrived to pursue a settlement with the families of those who died on behalf of M-Tex, the company Tommy works for. To complicate matters further, Cooper has begun pursuing a romantic relationship with Ariana, the wife of one of the deceased men. He helps her negotiate a deal to double her settlement amount, upsetting Rebecca in Landman episode 8's ending.

Rebecca may have lost Monty Miller and M-Tex a grand total of $1.5 million, and though it's a sizable amount, it's not her money at the end of the day. At the end of the episode, Tommy makes it seem like they were trying to lowball Ariana and the other women anyway, so it doesn't seem like Monty would hold this against Rebecca. If her career isn't threatened and she hasn't lost anything personally, the only reason for Rebecca to hold a vendetta against Cooper is that her ego was damaged by being out-smarted by him.
She sees herself as better than Cooper, which makes it so aggravating to be beaten by him.
Rebecca arrived in West Texas with a prejudice against Tommy and practically everyone else who lives and works there, accusing the oil industry of damaging the environment. She sees herself as better than Cooper, which makes it so aggravating to be beaten by him. Importantly, her attempt to destroy Ariana demonstrates the hypocrisy of her self-righteous attitude. She was happy to criticize Tommy and place blame on him for whatever she could think of, but the slightest infringement on her ego caused her to try and destroy a young single mother's life.
Jon Hamm's Landman character, Monty, is involved in a shocking turn of events in episode 8 that could have a long-lasting impact on the series.

Rebecca's accusations are pretty outlandish, and even she doesn't think Cooper and Tommy were involved in some mastermind scheme to collect the settlement money. As she mentioned, she's making her own truth. The audience knows that Cooper didn't purposefully cause the explosion, but there was a moment after it occurred when Tommy asked Cooper if he'd turned a specific knob, which Cooper couldn't confirm. It's possible Landman's final two episodes could see Rebecca finding evidence to place the blame on Cooper.
Set in West Texas, this series explores the world of oil rigs and the fortunes they create. It portrays a modern upstairs/downstairs narrative of roughnecks and billionaires, highlighting the profound impact on the climate, economy, and geopolitics in these boomtowns.
