Ethan Hawke Reacts to Maya Hawke, Christian Lee Hutson’s Marriage
Maya Hawke was worried her wedding to Christian Lee Hutson would flip upside down.
Indeed, the Stranger Things alum used her own experience marrying the “Love This Number” singer to give other brides-to-be some advice for enjoying their wedding day.
"Be selfish,” Maya told People in an interview published May 16. “Because I worried so much about how everyone else's experience was going to go that I'd worked myself into a total tizzy, and then it happened, and I had a great time, and everyone had a great time. I didn't need to worry as much as I did."
"I wasted a lot of energy being so worried, so if I had any advice, it would be worry less," she added. "It's going to be great. Everyone's there to support you, do whatever you want. Don't kill yourself trying to make everybody else happy, just make yourself happy."
Though the Do Revenge actress has kept much of the couple’s big day private, she shared that it ultimately went on without a hitch.
"It was a wonderful day,” she explained, “and I probably wouldn't want to say anything more about it than that."
Maya, 27, married Christian, 35, in a romantic Valentine’s Day ceremony in New York City Feb. 14.
For the occasion, Maya wore a custom Prada ballgown, which she paired with a lace veil and feathery white coat. Christian, meanwhile, opted for a classic black tuxedo with a white shirt and vest along with a floral boutonniere.

And the event’s guest list was just as impressive as the bridal fashion. After all, Maya’s parents Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke were in attendance for the nuptials as well as a slew of her Netflix costars, including Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink and Finn Wolfhard.
One month after wedding bells rang, Maya described the newlyweds’ new chapter as “absolutely fantastic.”
"I'm a very, very lucky person who's very happy right now," Maya told People at the premiere of her movie Wishful Thinking March 12. "And yeah, couldn't be more grateful.”
She added to Page Six at the event, “I feel so lucky to have found my best friend and to have someone I can tell anything to.”
