Super Bowl LX noticeably didn't feature any Marvel Studios marketing for Avengers: Doomsday, and there's a reason behind that decision. Historically the most-watched TV event in the country, the football match is just one of the many aspects to look forward to during the annual event. There's, of course, the high-profile Super Bowl Halftime show, and the many fun advertisements. Finally, it's also the perfect time for movies and TV shows to run promos.

Disney and Marvel Studios have been staples of Super Bowl marketing for years. The Avengers franchise, in particular, has released a game spot for all previous four films, starting in 2012 with The Avengers. Interestingly, Marvel Studios breaks that trend for Super Bowl LX, not releasing any marketing material for Avengers: Doomsday even though the Joe and Anthony Russo blockbuster is releasing this year.

Avengers: Doomsday Isn't Releasing Until December 2026

While neither Disney nor Marvel Studios has officially explained why they didn't do any promotional activities for Avengers: Doomsday during Super Bowl LX, the decision made total sense if one looks at the film's current situation. All 4 previous Avengers films were summer blockbuster openers, premiering between the last week of April to the first week of May. The February-dated Super Bowl made for the perfect time and venue for a major marketing push for the movies leading up to their release.

Things are different for Avengers: Doomsday, however. MCU's next culminating event is not releasing in theaters until December 2026 — 10 months after the Super Bowl. Timing-wise, it doesn't make sense for Marvel Studios and Disney to make a massive marketing effort for the film this early, especially since they've already started its promotions via smaller teasers. Sure, they could have released anything related to the project during Super Bowl LX, but if it doesn't live up to the already existing hype that it currently has, it risks backfiring.

When Marvel Studios & Disney Might Release The Avengers: Doomsday Trailer

Admittedly, it's a bummer that Marvel Studios didn't have any Avengers: Doomsday presence during the Super Bowl LX. Not that the event had any scarcity of memorable moments, but for those who have been on the lookout for anything official for the Multiverse Saga's culminating film, the feeling is understandable. The good news is that Disney and Marvel Studios have other avenues in the coming months to release Avengers: Doomsday's first proper trailer may drop.

Avengers: Doomsday’s Best First Death Ends Marvel’s Longest-Running Crime

Joe and Anthony Russo can effectively start Avengers: Doomsday with a major death that will also finally end the MCU's longest-running mistake.

For starters, the footage might be tied to Star Wars: Mandalorian & Grogu, the same way that the Steve Rogers' centric teaser was attached to Avatar: Fire and Ash. Summer, which makes perfect sense in terms of ramping up the marketing efforts for the film, also has San Diego Comic-Con and D23 — both great places to drop the much-anticipated promo. Finally, the MCU may simply drop it through their own event, which is something that Kevin Feige has done before, to lay out their plans for Infinity Saga's Phase 3.
