Why Fans Think Lewis Hamilton Made an Appearance in Kim Kardashian’s Latest Video
Lewis Hamilton won’t be making a pit stop at the 2026 Oscars.
Though the Formula 1 driver is a producer of Best Picture nominee F1: The Movie, he has a scheduling conflict that will keep him from attending the ceremony.
Indeed, due to the Chinese Grand Prix event in Shanghai March 15, a rep for Lewis confirmed in a statement to E! News, “He's unable to attend as he has a race in China the same day.”
Amid the news, the racer detailed his disappointment.
“It would have been great to see and meet people like Denzel Washington live,” he told Italian publication Corriere Della Sera earlier this week. “It means I really have to produce another movie.”
Despite missing out on the Academy Awards—hosted by Conan O’Brien—Lewis has vocalized how passionate he was to work alongside stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, as well as producer Jerry Bruckheimer to create an authentic representation of Formula 1 racing.
“I grew up loving this sport since I was 4 or 5 years old,” the 41-year-old told Variety in June. So this has been my life and my passion for a long, long time. When you turn the TV on and you watch a race, obviously you see the racing and maybe you see pit stops, but there’s so much more going on in the background.”
“I love the storytelling,” he continued. “But particularly in this movie, you get to see that drama. You get to see this there’s a lot of emotion. There’s a huge amount at stake. There’s the underdog story.”

Plus, Lewis was adamant about making sure the Joe Kosinski-directed movie provided more than just an accurate viewing experience.
“I said to Jerry and Joe, when we do this film, we want to make sure that people watching it see what we want [Formula 1] to be in future, so it is super diverse,” he explained. “You’ve got this amazing woman who’s the main engineer [played by Kerry Condon], and you’ve never seen a woman in the pit stop before.”
The seven-time world champion concluded, “These young kids are going to be able to see that it doesn’t matter what your gender is, what your religion is—there’s a place for you. And that’s the part that I wanted to contribute, to make sure to put on the screen.”
