At the 2026 Actor Awards in Los Angeles March 1, host Kristen Bell said a curse word during her opening monologue that wasn't bleeped out by Netflix. Here's why that's allowed.

Kristen Bell Roasts Emma Stone & More Celebrities’ Name Changes at Actor Awards

The Actor Awards 2026 were rated PG-13.

During the ceremony in Los Angeles March 1, host Kristen Bell seemingly made an award show faux pas when she said a curse word during her opening monologue song.

During her hilarious musical number, Kristen abruptly stopped singing after accidentally referring to the Actor Awards as its previous name, the SAG Awards.

"Oh, f--k me," she exclaimed before she re-sang the line as "at the Actor Awards." (For every star who went home a winner at the 2026 Actor Awards, click here.)

And while other award shows would normally bleep out the swear, Kristen's slip-up aired without any cover-ups. As for why her curse word was allowed to be heard on the show? The Actor Awards aired on Netflix this year instead of broadcast television, which observes different rules than the streaming platform.

And that's not the only new rule that the Actor Awards incorporated into its event.

Indeed, the annual show revealed that it would have a red carpet dress code for the first time in its 31-year history back in January, with the theme being “Reimagining Hollywood Glamour From the ’20s and ’30s."

And as for Kristen, who hosted the ceremony for the second year in a row and third time overall, the 45-year-old had quite a few more memorable moments during her monologue

In fact, she hilariously poked fun at how many actors—Emma StoneBenicio del Toro and others—decided to go with a stage name as they embarked on their careers and had some suggestions for some other performers who might want to consider new calling cards.

Her options? For her The Good Place costar Ted Danson, she teased that he could go by "Ted Dandaughter," while she quipped that Teyana Taylor may want to try the mononym "TeyTay."

The one person who shouldn't change their name, however? One Battle After Another actress Chase Infiniti

As Kristen put it, "No notes."
