Josh Allen Details His Proposal to Hailee Steinfeld

Hailee Steinfeld is quite the good luck charm.

After all, her fiancé, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, has had a banner season that could put him in contention to be this year’s NFL MVP—and the athlete credited his bride-to-be for contributing to his success.

“She’s been a huge part,” he told the Associated Press in an interview published Dec. 18. “The morale, the support. When I get home, she’s my biggest fan, my biggest supporter. She’s just the best.”

The NFL star has been on a hot streak as of late, scoring 14 touchdowns in the three games since popping the question to the Edge of Seventeen star Nov. 22. But despite the uptick in his performance, Allen was modest about his impressive stats.

“I’m just playing this game, the same game that I’ve been playing since I was a little kid,” he continued. “That’s kind of what it comes down to. What I get to do is really fun, and I want to have as much fun as possible.”

The couple confirmed their engagement in a joint Instagram post Nov. 29, sharing a photo of themselves surrounded by candles and a floral arch while the football star got down on one knee. And the oceanfront proposal wasn’t just picturesque, as Allen described his heightened emotions leading up to the big moment.

“I think I was most nervous about you finding out about the proposal,” the 28-year-old told his fiancée in a Q+A featured in her Beau Society newsletter Dec. 6. “It was hard to keep secrets from you and have other people in your life keep secrets from you. Multiple times throughout the day, a song would come on and I would tear up thinking about how special our day was going to be.”

As for Steinfeld, also 28, she was sentimental about taking the next step in her relationship as well.

“All the happy tears have just barely dried,” she gushed. “Whenever we tell the story, look back at photos, or even say ‘We're engaged’ or ‘We're getting married’ I start crying.”
