WARNING! This article contains SPOILERS for From season 3, episode 8!Elgin is told to draw his own blood in From season 3, episode 8, which is part of the plans laid out to him by the Kimono Woman’s ghost. Since the end of From season 2, Elgin has been plagued by visions of the Kimono Woman’s ghost at the Colony House, with her appearances and requests to him escalating throughout season 3. By From season 3, episode 8, Elgin and the Kimono Woman are communicating through both visions and Polaroid pictures, the latter of which are used to instruct him on how to “help” her.

One of the Polaroid pictures developed for Elgin in From season 3, episode 8 is of a blood bag. There isn’t any specific guidance for the blood bag, but it leads Elgin to steal a kit for drawing blood from the clinic. Elgin then uses the kit to draw his own blood and collect it in a bag, though From doesn’t explicitly reveal what the blood will be used for. However, the shocking events at the end of the episode in which Elgin lures Fatima to the root cellar to keep the baby “safe” imply the blood bag’s real purpose.

Elgin's Blood Is Being Used To Feed The Baby Inside Of Fatima

The Baby Has Already Exhibited A Thirst For Blood

It’s implied that Elgin’s own blood will be used to feed the cravings of Fatima’s baby. Throughout From season 3, Fatima’s pregnancy has given her increasingly disturbing cravings and symptoms, including a liking for rotten crops, morning sickness that leads to her teeth falling out, sharp pains that cause her stomach to shrink up, and a taste for blood. In From season 3, episode 4’s ending, Fatima visited the room where Nicky’s dead body was being held, then proceeded to dig her fingers into the gunshot wound and lick them.

Elgin's Terrifying Visions In From Season 3 Could Be The Key To Solving A Huge Season 1 Mystery

The Kimono Woman's ghost appearances in From season 3 could be setting up Elgin to make a major discovery about a mysterious location in town.

Now, that disturbing taste for Nicky’s blood has seemingly grown into a source of crucial sustenance for the baby. While Fatima is being trapped in the root cellar, Elgin and the Kimono Woman will still need to make sure that it’s being fed to grow, and it seems blood and rotten crops might be the only way to do this. With Fatima already being drained so much throughout this pregnancy, Elgin may have to be the one who continues to supply the blood to help the baby grow.

Whose Baby Is Inside Fatima In From?

Elgin Reveals The Baby Isn't Actually Hers

At the very end of From season 3, episode 8, Elgin drops the news bomb that the baby growing inside of Fatima isn’t hers. It explains the taste for blood and rotten crops, but leaves the mystery of what exactly is actually inside her. It’s possible that the baby is a product of some entity in the town, with some fan theories speculating that Fatima’s baby is one of From’s monsters. Whatever it is, it requires the consumption of human blood to develop, so the idea that it’s human doesn’t seem likely.

There have also been widespread theories that the Kimono Woman is actually a future version of Fatima herself, which may explain the ghost's interest in the baby.

The baby could also have some connection to the Kimono Woman before her death. This ghost is the one who convinced Elgin to draw his blood and bring Fatima to the root cellar, so her ability to be “helped” has some stake in the survival and safety of that baby. While it’s likely not the Kimono Woman’s baby, per se, she may need it in order to be freed from the town and break whatever cycle has trapped everyone in From.
