Why Dax Shepard Didn’t Join Kristen Bell at Actor Awards 2026

Dax Shepard didn’t join wife Kristen Bell at the 2026 Actor Awards, revealing that he is preparing for a colonoscopy the morning after the March 1 ceremony.

Jenna Ortega Unveils Surprising Red Carpet Look at Actor Awards 2026

His name is Dax Shepard and he is preparing for a colonoscopy.

As his wife of 12 years Kristen Bell took the stage at the Actor’s Awards as host, her husband of over a decade skipped out on the March 1 ceremony—and he shared exactly he was up to instead.

Indeed, Dax—who shares Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 9, with Kristen—shared a screenshot from a conversation reminding him to only consume liquids until his colonoscopy on March 2. His response? “I’m currently eating a stack,” he quipped back,” smothered in seeds and nuts.”

Making it explicitly clear what he is heading into, alongside the screenshot, he wrote, “#colonoscopyprep.”

And for Kristen, the third time is a charm as she returns as the host for the awards show, after previously leading the charge in 2024 and 2025. What's more? the Veronica Mars alum has been trying her hardest to make sure that she breaks the habit of referring to the ceremony—which serves as an opportunity for the Screen Actors Guild to celebrate the best in film and television—by its old moniker.

"Renaming it is a big thing to apply to the old processor," the 45-year-old told USA Today in an interview published Feb. 26. "There's been a lot of slip-ups. But we politely correct each other when I say the SAG Awards. Nope, it's now called the Actor Awards."

Kristen will have enough star power in the room to assist her with the mission. Indeed, ensemble films One Battle After Another and Sinners lead the pack for the most film nominations. And on the television front, Seth Rogen's The Studio snagged the most nominations.

As for the star with the most legendary run? Harrison Ford is set to receive this year's Lifetime Achievement Award.

Kristen is leading the charge as the ceremony undergoes another big change. This year, some of the biggest names in Hollywood will display their best themed fashion as the ceremony called for a dress code “Reimagining Hollywood Glamour From the ’20s and ’30s."

In partnership with Elle, the Actors ceremony drew inspiration "from an era defined by cinematic elegance and bold expression."
