All of ABC's usual programming will be interrupted beginning at 7 p.m. ET for its special "Election Night 2024: Your Voice/Your Vote" coverage. Alfonso made this announcement at the end of the October 29 Halloween Nightmares episode.

This is the second time that Dancing With The Stars season 33 has been interrupted due to the election. On October 1, the show didn't air because of the vice presidential debate. It returned for a special two-night event with the prerecorded Soul Train Night show on October 7 and the live Hair Metal Night show on October 8. There was no elimination on Soul Train Night, but instead the scores carried over and were combined with the Hair Metal Night scores. At the end of the second episode, there was a double elimination during which Eric and Britt, and Reginald and Emma, were eliminated.

In addition, Alfonso announced on the October 29 episode of the show that the remaining contestants--Danny, Joey, Dwight, Chandler, Ilona, and Stephen--will be challenged like never before with an all-new Instant Dance challenge.
During the Instant Dance Challenge, the contestants won't know the dance style or song for their routine until about five minutes before they have to perform it live. In addition to this round of competition, each couple will perform a dance style and song from a classic Dancing With The Stars routine from the past 32 seasons. Both of these rounds of competition will be challenging yet invigorating for the contestants. It's amazing that Dancing With The Stars has made it to 500 episodes, so this will surely be a legendary night of nostalgia and spectacular dance routines.
