Red Dead Redemption 2 is a uniquely beloved open-world adventure, earning its spot as one of the most popular games in the last decade. From its narrative strength to the freedom granted to the player, Red Dead Redemption 2 offers something for everybody. Notably, its characters are written so beautifully that they hook anyone following along.
This article contains some spoilers for some of the events in the game.The diversity of characterization in Red Dead Redemption 2 is a large part of what makes the cast great, and considering which characters match the personalities of each Zodiac sign raises a lot of interesting considerations. It can also make playing or replaying the game more interesting, especially when keeping an eye out for whichever character might be the best personal fit.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Character: Abigail Roberts
Capricorns are renowned for their serious approach to everything; they are consistent and mature,fitting with Abigail Roberts as the group’s backbone. As a protector of her family, she dedicates herself to providing a better life for both herself and them.
John and Abigail Marston are one of the most well-known couples in the Red Dead Redemption franchise, but their first meeting is not in either game.
Abigail is often overlooked because of her mistreatment of John in the epilogue, but it is not an accurate representation of who she is as a person. She is not flashy, but her responsible nature and her devotion shine, even if the gang might not always show their appreciation for her presence and help.
Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
Character: Blind Man Cassidy
For Blind Man Cassidy, stability is the last thing on his mind. Like most Aquarius people, he is drawn to a more philosophical approach, aiming for nothing boring in life. Naturally, Blind Man Cassidy loves wandering through the wilderness, loaded with shreds of wisdom to share with passersby such as Arthur.
Bringing tranquility and serenity through his fortunes, it’s his unique outlook on life and wisdom that makes him fascinating to others, breaking the conventions of the Red Dead Redemption world. As an Aquarius, he’s always looking at things from another angle than others.
Pisces (February 19-March 20)
Character: Anastasia
Pisces flows with the energy surrounding them, and Anastasia, the Valentine saloon dancer and a lady of the night, knows how to take that energy and weave around it, how to work a room. Her grace makes her charming and magnetic to everyone around her.
Like a true Pisces, Anastasia does not need to be loud in order to make an impression on others, as it comes to her inherently. Her allure speaks for itself, and with her intuition, she knows how to lead the energy in her direction.
Aries (March 21-April 19)
Character: John Marston
John Marston leads with no fear; Aries are bold and competitive, making them ready to take on any kind of challenge, such as a bar brawl. The protagonist of the original Red Dead Redemption is always confident and able to throw himself into the fray.
His bravery and determination are a triumph for others.Especially considering his life story, from being an orphan to then being raised by Dutch, he is loyal to the group but will always follow his own morals and attempt to do the right thing. It serves him as the classic Aries traits as a fire sign, showing how he fits into the hero role.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Character: Poor Joe
Those with the Taurus sign are known for their loyalty and dislike of change, and Poor Joe is no exception to this. Even though he is a minor character within the game, his personality catches the attention of many. Always found on his tree to the northeast of Doverhill, he might appear more introverted at first, but at a closer look, Joe reasserts that he is King Joe.
As the king, he should never be expected to transform for others, as he’s doing his best to survive. His commitment to routines and overall personality align with Taurus people’s tendency to be down to earth while also maintaining their sense of chaos, a friendly reminder that not everybody is interested in the rush.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Character: Uncle
Geminis are the social butterflies of the zodiac as they tend to be full of humor and character. Uncle is exactly that; he is always ready for a quick joke or story, even if it may be in a moment of tension.Laughter can be the best weapon sometimes, and Geminis knows the power behind this tool.
Uncle’s playful personality is a perfect match for Geminis’ lighthearted spirit, which tends to make Geminis a lovable member of any group. His backstory is largely mysterious, but his dual nature shows through with spins on his past, with a mix of wild adventures as a cowboy and then his ailments worsening.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Character: Tammy Aberdeen
A Cancer never forgets. Tammy Aberdeen is often overshadowed by the larger story of finding the Aberdeen Pig Farm and her relationship with her brother. In the State of Lemoyne, near the border with Roanoke Ridge, Arthur can encounter this couple and engage with a variety of outcomes, one of them showing Tammy’s loyalty.
Most players usually kill both of the Aberdeen siblings, but unknown to most, if you kill her husband, Bray, she will proceed to chase Arthur Morgan for the rest of the game till she dies,showing her loyalty and love to Bray. Cancers might not relate to Tammy’s personal life, but her loyalty shows how many Cancers take it to another level.
Leo (July 23-August 22)
Character: Lenny Summers
Leos love to be the center of attention, and Lenny Summers is no exception. He tends to be the life of the party, especially after spending a night of drinking with Arthur. His enthusiasm and general liveliness usually light up the room, as a Leo usually does like nobody else.
Lenny and Hosea are two key members of the Van der Linde gang that meet an untimely demise in RDR2. Can the player save them from their fate?
Even when the Van der Linde gang faces hard times, Lenny knows how to help push through, typically with his positive approach and resilience. He ultimately stands out from the group as a whole, blooming from his trauma and using his personality as a strength.
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Character: Susan Grimshaw
Susan Grimshaw breaks gender stereotypes, serving as a good example of Rockstar's evolution in writing women as independent individuals. Virgos are the organizers of the zodiac, and just like a Virgo, Susan positions herself as a leader, maintaining a tight ship for the camp in a way that no other character could manage.
Her standards may be high when it comes to others, but to a Virgo, it’s only normal to try and achieve perfection. Her willingness to call people out and her dedication to maintaining the camp is key to Virgos.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
Character: Lillian Powell
Lillian is an openly bisexual queen in Red Dead Redemption 2, and she brings elegance to the gritty world that RDR2 can be. Libras are renowned for their charm and taste, as reflected in Lillian's outfits that show her love for beauty.
That being said, she can find herself conflicted between her desires and what’s best for her, pushing herself to try and mask her emotions while facing the world’s harsher realities. It can be tough, but her charisma makes her a magnet for everybody. Lillian commands everyone's attention, as seen through her presence in the bar as a socialite while she's drawn to higher society.
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Character: Dutch Van Der Linde
Dutch Van der Linde is a clear leader, as seen with the gang being named after him. Scorpios are intense and captivating,which fits Dutch completely. His ambitious plans represent a key trait of Scorpios, making him stand out as one of the most memorable figures in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Dutch is one of RDR2’s most compelling characters, a master manipulator who still believes in his own lies. Here are some of his greatest quotes.
Dutch follows the dream of a better life. As much as he can be ruthless, he pushes boundaries in this dangerous world to get it to work in his favor in order to achieve his vision. With his hunger for power, he can also be rather complex. He does not see himself as a force of change, which aligns with a darker view of the world, but as the son of a Civil War veteran, it's not surprising.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
Character: Arthur Morgan
Sagittarius people are driven by curiosity, mainly by their desire for meaning in life. Arthur Morgan’s journey throughout demonstrates this fully, as a proper Sagittarius. As a Sagittarius, he is also constantly seeking purpose,questioning his beliefs and attempting to understand what is right and what is wrong. This characteristic, along with his love for exploring exhibited by his adventures, aligns with the behavior of all Sagittarius people.
Arthur loves exploring all of North America and sharing his take with everyone, as a Sagittarius is known for honesty and chatty behavior. His candidness also puts him in the line of fire sometimes in that journey to find himself and his place in Red Dead Redemption 2.
