When Taylor Swift Goes Back On The Eras Tour & How Many Dates Are Left

2 hours ago 5

While Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie is available to stream on Disney+, the artist took a well-deserved break from concerts before her performances resumed later in 2024. With a tour that encompasses and celebrates her first ten studio albums, referred to as “eras” for the concert series, Taylor Swift’s 2023-2024 The Eras Tour quickly became the highest-grossing tour of all time after surpassing $1 billion in revenue. The tour's success then carried over to a different medium as she debuted a filmed version of her LA concerts in October 2023, The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version).

The Eras Tour originally kicked off on March 17, 2023, so it’s fitting that the Disney+ version of The Eras Tour movie debuted nearly a year later, on March 14, 2024. While Taylor Swift took a brief break from touring after finishing her Singapore dates on March 9, she didn't slow down during this time. In addition to the release of The Eras Tour movie on Disney+, Swift released her next album, The Tortured Poets Department, on April 19. After the album’s debut, Swift hit the road again for The Eras Tour.

Taylor Swift Took Another Brief Break Later In The Year

Taylor Swift took a two-month break from performing for her world tour, but The Eras Tour picked back up on May 9, 2024, in Paris, France. Once The Eras Tour resumed in May, Swift revamped the entire setlist and removed a series of songs to include new tunes from The Tortured Poets Department. The Tortured Poets Department songs followed the 1989 era, and Swift still finished the show with the Midnights era (via Variety).

However, while the world tour picked up again in May, Swift had one more break planned out after her August shows (the same time she took a break in 2023). The tour continued until the break with several shows in the U.K. She played in Germany through the end of July, then moved on to three shows in Poland, three in Austria, and then five nights at Wembley Stadium in England. After that, Swift was off until October, when she returned to the United States.

Taylor Swift has not announced whether she will embark on a separate tour to support the release of her upcoming album The Tortured Poets Department. However, it is unlikely. Since Taylor Swift's 11th album debuted while The Eras Tour is still ongoing, she integrated songs from The Tortured Poets Department into the setlist. To make room for the new songs, Swift removed the following songs: "The Archer", "Long Live", "The 1", "The Last Great American Dynasty", "'Tis the Damn Season", and "Tolerate It."

Ways That Taylor Swift Has Made Tour Dates Unique

Swift Tries To Make Every Date Memorable

For many concert tours, there’s a consistency that is appreciated by fans. The setlist remains the same and each stop provides a live show with songs they love. While Swift’s tour is consistent with the same set pieces and a certain number of costume changes while the bulk of the music remains the same, she has also made sure to make the experience different each night for the audience.

Every concert includes surprise songs and mashups. Swift has been steadily rotating through her own catalog to perform acoustic versions of songs that aren’t already included in her setlist. She also enjoys mashing up songs from earlier in her career with songs from her most recent albums, creating a sing-along experience for fans who love her music.

One of the most memorable aspects of Swift’s tour, however, is her support for other musical acts.

Beyond her surprise songs, however, she’s also got the audience involved in her show. There are light-up wristbands for certain sequences and a young member of the crowd gets her hat during every performance of “22.” Fans have also been trading friendship bracelets that include song titles or lyrics on them with fellow concert-goers for the duration of the tour - some have even been able to trade bracelets with the Kelce brothers or Swift’s parents when there.

One of the most memorable aspects of Swift’s tour, however, is her support for other musical acts. Even before the Eras Tour, Swift had been able to get friends of hers to come out for certain concerts to perform with her. Selena Gomez performed “Who Says” at a concert before, while Ed Sheeran has dueted with Swift in the past. For this tour, Swift has brought her own openers out for her part of the concert to perform with her.

Both Gracie Abrams and Sabrina Carpenter have opened for different legs of the Eras Tour, and Swift has brought them out during her own set to perform some of their songs with her. It’s a way to help introduce the audience to these artists when they might not have been as focused on the opening acts before. Swift also got longtime friend and collaborator Florence Welch to appear for multiple tour dates, performing “Florida” with her from The Tortured Poets Department.

Each of these little differences between shows have helped make each concert date for the Eras Tour special for Taylor Swift fans.
