When Charlotte met Bree! SATC's Kristin Davis and Desperate Housewives' Marcia Cross discuss their sex scenes with beloved on-screen husband Kyle MacLachlan

Sex And The City star Kristin Davis hosted Desperate Housewives icon Marcia Cross to appear on her podcast Are You A Charlotte?

The actress and host, 60, who played Charlotte York in the show, delightedly spoke to Marcia, 63, who is famed for her role as Bree Van de Kamp in the ABC programme, about their shared on-screen husband Kyle MacLachlan. 

Kyle, 66, played Charlotte's husband Trey MacDougal in Sex And The City and Bree's husband Orson Hodge in Desperate Housewives and his on-screen wives had nothing but praise for the 'cute' star, who they branded 'a good man'. 

Kristin, who appeared opposite Marcia in Melrose Place in the 1990s, discussed a scene in Series Three episode Escape From New York from 2000, in which Charlotte and Trey are in bed while Marcia detailed her steamy first kiss with the star. 

Shedding light on the romantic scenes with Kyle, the pair joked that they had 'a rough job' in having to kiss the star before sharing giggles, while Marcia alluded to Charlotte and Trey's storyline about his impotence. 

Kristin opened the discussion about her first scene with Trey - sparking Marcia's confession about her jealousy: 'I know, I was a little jealous. I was a little jealous and like, "I don't know if I can watch this!"'

As an image of the scene popped on-screen, Marcia explained: 'You're both as babies! And then with this you know penis and I was like "Oh my God"'.

Marcia meanwhile recalled her own first scene with Kyle, saying: 'You know my opening scene with him was like when, I was like here this is Kyle and then we were like making out in a rainstorm. I didn't even know him... I was like okay let's go!'

Gushing about her former co-star, she said: 'He's such a good man', to which Kristin said: 'Isn't he such a good man. I had to make out with him as well.'

In Sex And The City, Charlotte's goal in life was to find the perfect husband - a preened, polished and successful man to whom she would wed and have children.

In 2000's third season, she meets Trey - who appears to tick all her boxes - however the warning signs started after an awkward proposal, his low libido, inabilities in the bedroom and conflicts with his domineering mother Bunny.

Despite the issues, they persevered and marry, although a sexless honeymoon and sexual issues lead to their separation, much to Charlotte's heartache.

An ill-advised reunion leads to the discovery that Charlotte would struggle to conceive a child and Bunny's refusal to allow the couple to adopt an Asian baby.

Trey is not seen again on-screen, although he sends a telegram to his mother to put a stopper on her feud with Charlotte over possession of their Park Avenue home.

Kyle previously discussed playing the role and how he reacted when he learnt of Trey's impotence, which would become his main storyline. 

He said: 'I haven't rewatched [Sex And The City], but I remember it being good at the time. I thought one of the strengths, in particular our stuff, was, let's say, the conceit of what was happening was funny and embarrassing, I'll be honest'.

In Desperate Housewives meanwhile, Orson was introduced in the final episodes of Series Two, and becomes the main mystery of Series Three. He left the main cast in 2009's Series Six before guest appearances until the eighth and final season.

His relationship with Bree hosted a number of twists and turns, yet Marcia looked back fondly on the steamy start to their union.  

Marcia then reflected on the opening episode of 2006's Series Three of Desperate Housewives; You know my opening scene with him was like when, I was like here this is Kyle and then we were like making out in a rainstorm!'
