‘Wheel of Fortune’ Contestant Creates Viral Moment After Giving Hilariously Wrong Answer
Wheel of Fortune blunders are the gifts that keep on giving.
A contestant named Phil McManus is the latest person to go viral after hilariously making the wrong guess for a holiday-themed puzzle during the Dec. 17 episode. Phil—who is from Palmer, Massachusetts—was confident as he attempted to solve the same letter category.
The board next to Vanna White read, “Chocolate Chestnuts & Chi_ne_s.”
Host Ryan Seacrest asked Phil if he wanted to solve it or take a spin.
Phil chose to solve it, and that’s where things went past the North Pole.
Taking a guess, Phil said, “Chocolate, Chestnuts and Chickens.”
And that was way wrong.
A contestant named Matt decided to take a turn, properly guess, “Chocolate, Chestnuts and Chimneys.”
Viewers quickly took to social media to react to the moment with one writing, “That was my shopping list last weekend,” and another quipping, “I laughed so loud that my deaf dog jumped out of her bed.”
It has been a hilarious season for the series, which is the first for Ryan who replaced Pat Sajak after his retirement. In November, a contestant name Will Jordan went viral after his LOL-worthy response during the Veteran’s Day themed show when he guessed, “Treat Yourself a Round of Sausage.”
Or who can forget contestant Vivian Tran, who blew a $1 million prize, after she became stumped while solving a three-word puzzle.
While some contestants are having trouble with the puzzle, Vanna had nothing but praise for Ryan whom she believes has had a flawless transition into his role of host.
"He's doing an incredible job," Vanna told E! News in a joint interview with her new co-worker in September. "It's not easy. He makes it look easy."
"Pat decided to retire after 41 years and God bless him," she added. "He was happy and they said Ryan's gonna be the next one and I said, 'Great.' Because he's so talented, he's so professional, he's so good at what he does. I'm so thankful."
