What Should You Do With Duck Feathers In Stardew Valley?

4 days ago 4

Having a couple of Duck Feathers is all well and good, but once players have multiple ducks, they'll likely be getting several per week. This can lead to a massive pile of Duck Feathers collecting dust in a chest somewhere, as there are no apparent uses or crafting recipes that players can make with them. They may not have as many uses as, say, minerals in Stardew Valley, but they can come in handy in a few unexpected ways.

You Should Sell Most Of Your Duck Feathers

Ultimately, the main use of Duck Feathers in Stardew Valley is to sell them. They can't be used in any crafting recipes, can't be turned into more valuable animal products, and can't be gifted to most villagers (except for a very select few). They do, however, fetch a pretty solid sale price, as indicated by the table below.

Note that Duck Feathers sell for a significantly higher price if the player takes the Rancher perk at Farming level 5. Like most farmed items, their sell price also increases based on their quality. With animals in particular, the likelihood of spawning higher-quality eggs depends mainly on their friendship ranking with the player. The farmer should make sure they're petting and feeding their ducks daily, and letting them out to swim if they have a nearby pond or other body of water.

Other Uses For Duck Feathers

Gifting & Bundles

There are also a couple of fringe uses for Duck Feathers, but whether they'll be of any use varies from player to player. For one thing, Duck Feathers are a loved gift by exactly two villagers: Elliott and Leo. Harvey also likes them, while everyone else in town is neutral towards them. The one exception is Penny, who dislikes Duck Feathers.

Stardew Valley's Ancient Seeds can become a very valuable source of income - if only players know how to use the first one they come across.

Besides that, Duck Feathers can also be used for dyeing clothes in Stardew Valley. Once the player has obtained their first piece of Cloth, they'll unlock the Dye Pots at Emily's house. Players will have to put six different items, each of a different color, in six different pots (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple). They'll then be able to adjust a variety of different color sliders, and apply the resulting color to an item they're wearing. A Duck Feather can also be used in the Sewing Machine to make a Lime Green Striped Shirt - not necessarily to everyone's style, but great for putting together a Blues Clues cosplay in Stardew.

Options for Duck Feathers are limited, but they can make players a healthy sum of money. If nothing else, Stardew Valley players can take their appearance as a sign that their animals truly love and trust them, as Duck Feathers only spawn from ducks with high levels of friendship.
