We tend to go out of our way to photograph some incredible places. I’ve spoken with photographers who’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars enduring the Antarctic cold to get up close with penguins, or who risked getting lost in the Amazon jungle to photograph the harpy eagle, an extremely rare bird that nests high in the forest canopy, out of sight.
You don’t need distant Antarctic penguins or Amazon harpy eagles to take a great photo. Tell us about a spot nearer to your home that you keep coming back to.

What’s your favorite local photography spot?
This question is part of our Question of the week series, where every other week we ask our community what they think about a topic related to cameras and photography.
Drop a reply in the comments section below to share your story for this week’s topic. If you’ve got a photo to include with a great story, it may be selected for next week’s article showcasing the community’s submissions. The more local and distinctive the scene, the better!
