The Golden Bachelorette contestant, Charles Ling, is widely regarded as the breakout star of season 1, and he has been thriving with signs of a bright future after the show. Charles is a 66-year-old retired data analyst with two daughters who love him very much. They are the ones who petitioned for their dad to be on The Golden Bachelorette season 1. He Didn't Win Joan's Heart But Came Away With Friends
Charles came onto The Golden Bachelorette not knowing much about the show, but he made a solid first impression on Joan.

Charles, who lost his wife of 36 years six years prior to coming on the show, was open about his grief, and shared his sweet demeanor and funny and charismatic personality with Joan and the The Golden Bachelorette men.Charles never secured a one on one date, but did get to have several personal conversations with Joan via group dates.
He was eliminated in the fourth week, but his exit underscored how much of a positive impression he made on Joan and his cast mates.
During his time on the show, he got to a different place with his grief, and was aided by a conversation with ER Doctor Guy Gansert, who gave him clarity on his wife's passing.

Charles is on Instagram, where is now has 37,300 followers. He was inactive on social media before the show, but now he receives incredible fan support and encouragement, which he acknowledges. In one post from the beginning of the season, he thanked The Golden Bachelorette audience for the overwhelming messages and comments that have resonated with him. He has been coined "the internet's boyfriend."
"Wow! Thank you for all of your enthusiasm and support. I am thrilled that you all love me in this program. Just like the bachelor mansion fireplace, your cheerful and delightful messages warmed my heart. I hope I won’t disappoint you all on the show."

He Gave A Response To Public Demand
When Charles was on "The Men Tell All," he got time in the hot seat (and showed up with new jet black hair.) While there, he opened up about how positive and wonderful The Golden Bachelorette experience has been for him (via Bachelor Nation.) He noted that he watched the show as it aired while he was in China, but that he was recognized in the airport.
"I’m kind of thrilled, [it’s] something probably I never expected. Honestly, this is a surprise, I would say a big surprise — I never thought I’d be loved to that extent, it’s kind of a phenomenon. I’m just grateful … and I thank those fans."
Then there was a cry from the audience for him to be the next Golden Bachelor, with one fan even letting Charles know her mom was single. About the idea of becoming the next Golden Bachelor, Charles said, "I’ll see what will happen and what I should do, but … not at this moment." It's unclear whether Charles has been approached officially for the role, but if he were, it's obvious that The Golden Bachelorette fans would be all for it.
