Below Deck Down Under season 2 introduced viewers of one of the best reality TV shows to deckhand Adam Kodra, but it's time to catch up with the fired cast member. The spotlight fell on him after a dramatic incident involving crew member Laura Bileskalne, resulting in her dismissal. However, he was later fired too for a badly handled incident. Adam's journey aboard the superyacht Northern Sun in Australia has captivated audiences, leaving many curious about his background. While it's not certain whether he will return to Below Deck Down Under season 3, there's still interest in the deckhand.
Tensions on Below Deck Down Under reached a boiling point as deckhand Adam found himself at odds with Captain Jason Chambers, leading to his dismissal. The episode highlighted a series of escalating conflicts between the two, culminating in Captain Jason ultimately deciding to let Adam go. The decision came after a heated exchange where Adam expressed frustration over the captain's leadership style, citing a lack of respect and communication. While Adam's departure from the show was shocking, it also shed light on the challenges of working in the high-pressure environment of a luxury yacht.
Adam Hasn't Posted On Instagram In A While
Adam can be found on Instagram at @adamvk_. Unfortunately, he hasn't kept up his Instagram. In fact, his last Instagram post is him standing proudly in his Below Deck Down Under uniform in support of the latest installment of the season. However, his firing didn't stop him from speaking positively about his experience.
This is an experience that I will never forget.
In a lengthy caption, Adam detailed that his time on the hit reality TV series was "one of the most incredible experiences of my life." He continued with a message of gratitude, saying, "From the producers, captain, crew, everyone that put life into the show behind the scenes, I hope you know how much I, and everyone else appreciates you. This is an experience that I will never forget."
While Adam's Instagram can't tell fans much about his time after Below Deck Down Under, it certainly paints a picture of his past. A native of New York, he can be seen skateboarding in the city in various locations. He also is a soccer player and enjoys playing a game in Alabama. Of course, he also has a penchant for travel, having been around the country and the world in recent years. It's only fair to assume Adam has kept up with traveling since appearing on Below Deck Down Under season 2.
It's Unclear If Adam Still Works In Yachting
Adam has maintained a relatively low profile since getting fired from Below Deck Down Under, so it's unclear whether the former deckhand still works in yachting. He was hired as a deckhand in season 2 despite having only a year of experience in the yachting industry. Despite his relatively short tenure, he showcased skills showcased by seasoned sailors, particularly in his ability to navigate boats using the stars.
However, Adam admitted to being prone to seasickness, which only proved to be the beginning of his problems as a deckhand. Despite the challenges, Adam demonstrated a strong desire for success in the yachting industry, leaving fans disappointed when he made a serious error that could have been a safety issue. This incident may have been traumatizing enough to scare Adam away from pursuing a career in yachting moving forward. However, given his lack of online presence, it's tough to say if he's sailing the seas elsewhere or pursuing a completely different career path.
Adam's Journey On Below Deck Down Under
Before the accident, Adam was a well-liked albeit inexperienced deckhand who fit in well with the crew onboard. He was so popular that it was difficult for Captain Jason to fire him. Unfortunately, his mistake was inexcusable. Adam's dismissal from the Northern Sun on Below Deck Down Under was prompted by a serious mistake he made while releasing the anchor while the boat was still in motion, a potentially disastrous move. Despite being acknowledged as a hard worker by Captain Jason, his lack of experience with superyachts led to his dismissal.
Adam expressed understanding but devastation over his termination, admitting fault and wishing he had received more thorough training beforehand. Third stew Margot Sisson revealed Adam's departure was emotionally impactful for the crew, contrary to the brief portrayal on the show. Adam conducted a heartfelt farewell ceremony, where he expressed gratitude and fondness for each crew member individually, leaving many in tears. Margot emphasized that Adam's departure was much more somber and difficult than depicted, expressing trust in Captain Jason's decision-making despite the emotional toll it took on the crew.
Will Adam Ever Return To The Below Deck Franchise?
Given he was fired from Below Deck Down Under, there would have to be some serious changes before Adam was invited back to the hit Bravo spin-off. While well-liked and respected by the crew, Adam was an inexperienced deckhand whose lack of knowledge led to a safety issue that could have ended badly. Many other Below Deck Down Under cast members have been fired for sexual misconduct, and those crew members will never be hired back. However, if Adam continued working in yachting and gaining expertise after his firing from the yacht in season 2, it's possible he could be given another chance.
Adam was an intelligent and well-meaning deckhand who happened to make an unfortunate mistake in Below Deck Down Under season 2. While some may believe he didn't deserve to be fired, the safety of the crew and guests has to come first. Captain Jason should have spent more time training the inexperienced deckhand to prevent an accident, but unfortunately, that didn't happen.
What Is Adam Up To In 2024?
Not much is known about Adam and what he's been up to in 2024. He hasn't posted anything to his Instagram grid since 2023; however, he does keep his Below Deck Down Under fans updated on his whereabouts on his Instagram Stories. On November 4, 2024, Adam shared a reposted Instagram Story from a photographer of a young man shirtless, wearing dark green shorts and a Scream mask. The man behind the mask is presumed to be Adam, as the photograph tagged him in the photo. In the photo, Adam is holding a skateboard and seems to be somewhere in New York City.
Adam has kept a low profile in 2024, but it might be because he was also filming Below Deck Down Under season 3. While there is no confirmation about who was on the season and when it was filled, Adam was a beloved cast member who many would like to see return. He didn't deserve the firing her got on Below Deck Down Under season 2, so it would be nice to see Adam get his redemption story. Fans will likely find out once Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 is over.
Overall, Adam was a great addition to Below Deck Down Under season 2. While he didn't make it through the whole season, Adam could still return if he decided to continue in the yachting industry. If he decides not to return, many fans will be disappointed not to see Adam back on their screens.
Below Deck Down Under is available to stream on Peacock.
