The newest update for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 adds a new PvE Operation called "Obelisk," a high-risk mission against the forces of Chaos. A chaotic energy flow is spreading, so your objective is to destroy its power source and any enemies defending it. With the right equipment, you can earn great rewards from completing this Operation with fellow Space Marines.
You can embark on the "Obelisk" Operation on any difficulty, including the new Lethal difficulty in Space Marine 2. This setting is the most challenging, featuring much stronger enemies, limited ammo, and less protection as your armor doesn't regenerate fast. Majoris enemies are also much harder to kill, but succeeding in Lethal missions can unlock new cosmetics from this Operation.

Bring The Best Weapons Against Chaos
The class you pick when starting the "Obelisk" mission determines what skills and weapons you can use in your loadout. When you have a complete squad within this Operation, it is good to have these three archetypes chosen between you and other players:
- Vanguard
- Bulwark
- Sniper/Tactical

Every Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Class, Ranked Worst To Best
While eachWarhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 class is incredibly fun, not all of them can survive high difficulty operations.
All of these classes have a good spread of equipment and abilities to help deal with the Chaos enemies you'll encounter during this mission. The Vanguard can dive into enemy hordes using their Grapnel Launcher, while the Bulwark class in Space Marine 2 can use their shield to defend allies. Meanwhile, a flexible class like the Tactical can help your team adapt to situations, or you can have a Sniper to deal with stronger enemies.
Another good class for the "Obelisk" mission is the Heavy archetype, which can replace a Bulwark on your squad if you want your team to be aggressive rather than defensive.
The right arsenal can make this Operation much easier as well, especially toward the beginning of the mission. Although you'll pick up different weapons as you go along through "Obelisk," here are some great firearms and other tools to use when you drop into the Operation:
Melta Rifle | Primary Weapon |

Bolt Pistol | Secondary Weapon |

Chainsword | Melee Weapon |

How To Reach The Obelisk Control Console
Defeat New Enemies And Explore The Ruins Of War
Landing in the "Obelisk" Operation will first see you fight through a few scattered groups of enemies on the way to an elevator. During this first objective, you'll encounter a new enemy in Space Marine 2's recent update - the Tzaangor Enlightened. This elite enemy type is a Chaos minion on top of a floating platform, who uses spinning attacks to damage you and your allies.
The Tzaangor Enlightened isn't too hard to beat with a flashy finisher as your squad advances to the elevator leading up onto a bridge. You'll immediately get attacked exiting the elevator, so be prepared for some carnage right away. When you reach the bridge, your next goal is to traverse a tomb below it, underground from where a battle has ravaged most of the planet's surface.
The tomb is visible through a set of doors marked by glowing blue plants growing in an arch around it. Dark corruption permeates this area, causing your character to take damage if they remain within darkened spots. To combat this, collect a Sacred Relic to repel darkness around you and regenerate health for squad members with its light.
While holding the Sacred Relic, your character cannot parry, perform your usual melee attack, fire your Primary Weapon, or use your class ability .
Enemy waves will attack your squad while you're slowed by the Sacred Relic, making it difficult to take down foes. While your squad is still protected by the artifact's light, p lace the Sacred Relic on pedestals you find in the tomb to regain access to your equipment. Stopping to deal with enemies, and then picking up the Relic again to continue through the tomb, is the gimmick of this new mechanic in Space Marine 2.
Once you get far enough into the tomb, you can place the Sacred Relic on an altar near the Obelisk's control consoles. You have to take time to reactivate two different consoles by staying near them to complete this phase of the Operation. Since each console is within areas of corruption, you need to have squad members switch positions near them to keep their progress going before anyone dies from the corruption.
How To Rotate The Obelisk Replica
Find Your Way Out Of The Tomb
Once both consoles have been reactivated, you need to keep going through the tomb using the Sacred Relic. Your squad can explore and stop next to altars to fend off forces of Chaos as you continue, allowing you to progress at a steady pace. Eventually, you'll exit the tomb and see the titular Obelisk ahead of you.

Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 Season 3 - Release Window, Packs, & Everything Confirmed So Far
Season 3 of Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 is set to offer more content than ever when it releases, including multiple Chapter packs and a new mode.
At this point, your new objective is to align the massive islands surrounding the Obelisk by rotating the floating rubble around it. By standing next to a Chaos altar, you can cause the islands to spin around until a path forms. Doing this multiple times restores the surrounding land, giving your squad a clear path to the main control console of the Obelisk itself.
How To Defeat The Sorcerer Boss
Destroy The Shields Protecting The Heretic
Reaching the Obelisk command console will put your squad in a boss fight against The Sorcerer, a mage of Chaos protected by a large energy shield. You need to destroy the corrupt orbs hovering around the shield to lower its integrity, causing the boss to become exposed. Newer DLC weapons in Space Marine 2 will make short work of these orbs, giving you a chance to strike back at the boss and his minions.
While you do this, the Sorcerer will try to summon purple auras of Chaos under you to inflict damage. Simply dodge out of the way of the AoE circles the Sorcerer creates to avoid getting hurt throughout the boss fight. Several skull projectiles will travel slowly toward your Space Marine as well, tracking your character and inflicting damage if you don't dodge them in time.
The Sorcerer is an elusive foe when his shield disappears, as the boss teleports around the battlefield quickly. Despite this, a few well-placed shots will eliminate this enemy, allowing your squad to rotate the Obelisk and complete the mission. Finishing the "Obelisk" Operation in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will earn you plenty of XP, as well as an Extermination Rank based on how many enemies you killed.
