Characters like Lana, Kyle, John Henry, and more are again nowhere to be seen in Superman & Lois season 4, episode 5. However, the show finally uses Lex Luthor's daughter and explores the potential the character has. After all, the revenge path Michael Cudlitz's Lex is on was caused by him being sent to prison by Superman and Lois for a crime he did not commit, losing 17 years with his daughter. The conversation Lex has with his daughter is the focus of the episode, and it gives the Kent family time to turn the tide elsewhere.
Superman & Lois Season 4 Episode 5's Doomsday Ending Could Get Rid Of The Villain For Good
The DC Series Pulled A Major Twist
The Kent family tries to get Lex Luthor to stop coming for them in multiple different ways throughout the episode. First, Superman tries to have a conversation with Luthor. That went as well as one would expect, with Lois Lane later finding where Luthor's daughter, Elizabeth, was and convincing her to talk with her dad and get him to leave the Kents alone. While that also did not work out in their favor, Lex was occupied long enough for Lois to try her most dangerous plan — the one that ultimately worked.

Superman & Lois Just Created The Only Way I’d Accept DC Replacing The Man Of Steel
Superman & Lois season 4 might be the end of the DC series, but it also seems to be setting up a shocking future for Tyler Hoechlin's Man of Steel.
The most interesting aspect of Superman & Lois' version of Doomsday is that the character is a modified Bizarro. Lois manages to talk to that part of Doomsday, making him remember his life before being transformed into Luthor's monster. After that, Doomsday flies away into the sky. Lex Luthor arrives where he was holding Doomsday to realize that the Kents fooled him and the beast is nowhere to be seen. Superman & Lois season 4 might have just dropped another major character, making Lex Luthor have to get creative to achieve his revenge in the latter half of the season.
Superman & Lois' Doomsday Arc Suggests Episode 5 Isn't His Ending
Superman And Doomsday's Paths Have To Cross Again
Superman & Lois season 4, episode 5, ends in a way that makes it seem like Doomsday is gone for good. However, it would make little sense for the character to leave now and never come back. Doomsday flying away is more likely a reason for the show to take out the immediate danger that Clark and the Kents were in, as they could not defeat the villain in any conceivable way. Now, Superman can either slowly regain his powers to later fight the monster when Luthor manages to control him again or train his sons to do it.
Doomsday's arc is unlikely to finish with the monster so easily going away after a brief talk with Lois. Sure, the moment was emotionally charged. That would explain why Doomsday decided to leave the Kents alone for now. However, with Lex Luthor overcome with his desire for revenge after having botched his one chance of rebuilding his relationship with his daughter, it is hard to imagine that Lex will not find a way to locate the creature. After being killed by Doomsday, Superman also needs to show that he has gotten over it by beating the character.
Superman & Lois Season 4's Comic Inspiration Means A Doomsday Return Seems On The Cards
The Show's Version Of Doomsday Could Return In A Different Way
Superman & Lois made some key changes to DC Comics' "The Death of Superman" when adapting the iconic event. In the comics, Superman and Doomsday kill one another at the end of their massive fight. The DC series has already changed that, as Clark Kent was the only one to die in the show. That makes Doomsday's role in the rest of the season unpredictable, as there is no clear direction for what he should do. However, the comic book event did include other characters absent from the series, and Doomsday could take someone's place in the story.
Tyler Hoechlin | Clark Kent/Superman |
Elizabeth Tulloch | Lois Lane |
Alex Garfin | Jordan Kent |
Michael Bishop | Jonathan Kent |
Dylan Walsh | Sam Lane |
Michael Cudlitz | Lex Luthor |
Emmanuelle Chriqui | Lana Lang |
Doomsday could return as either a villain or an ally in Superman & Lois season 4's final episodes. In the comics, Mongul and Cyborg Superman are the villains when the Man of Steel comes back to life. Doomsday, once again under Lex's influence, and Luthor in his classic armored suit could fight Superman, his sons, Steel, and more. Doomsday could also take the Eradicator's role as Clark's ally for the final fight against Luthor and perhaps the teased villain Brainiac. That could lead to Doomsday dying and somehow being used to restore Clark's full powers as Superman & Lois ends.
Superman & Lois, the seventh Arrowverse spinoff series, will take the titular characters from Metropolis to Smallville. The CW series is set in the aftermath of the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover, which saw the multiverse collapse and the merging of worlds into what is now Earth Prime. Superman & Lois sees Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) dealing with all the pressures of their jobs, along with being parents to two teenage sons. Lois and Clark are no strangers to the Arrowverse, with Hoechlin's Superman having been introduced all the way back in Supergirl season 2. Meanwhile, Tulloch's Lois made her debut in the 2018 "Elseworlds" crossover. The duo is joined by a growing cast of characters that includes a new iteration of Lana Lang.
