EXCLUSIVE: Virgin River and Sullivan’s Crossing author Robyn Carr has partnered again with Creator/Showrunner Roma Roth to adapt her Thunder Point novels into a dramatic scripted series.

The book series – nine in all — takes place in the coastal town of Thunder Point, a place filled with lots of rugged charm and mystery. When newcomer Hank Cooper arrives to the town of Thunder Point to attend an old friend’s funeral, he is surprised to learn that he’s been left a beachfront property which has become the center of a town dispute. Cooper soon finds himself with a community’s destiny in his hands as well as a lot of unanswered questions. Never being a man to settle in one place, Cooper finds himself drawn to both the town, and Sarah Dupre, a woman as complicated as she is beautiful.

This marks the third Carr property that Roma has adapted through her company, Reel World Management, which she runs with Christopher E. Perry. Roma is the creator, showrunner, executive producer, and head writer on Sullivan’s Crossing, which she set up as a straight-to-series order with CTV and Fremantle. The show premiered as the No. 1 Canadian drama and became one CW’s most watched shows in the US. Season two is currently airing on the CW with season three in production.

Roma is also EP of Netflix’s Virgin River, which recently announced its seventh season. It is now Netflix’s longest-running current original scripted series as well as the longest-running English-language drama series in the streamer’s history.

“Thunder Point has drama, mystery, and romance, all theingredients you need to successfully build a global hit series,” said Roth. “It is certain to appeal to fans of both Sullivan’s Crossing and Virgin River but this time the story is told from a male perspective. We are beyond excited to be continuing our incredibly successful run with best-selling author Robyn Carr.”

“I’m so thrilled that Roma will be producing Thunder Point,” adds Carr. “She did such an exceptional job with her previous adaptations of my work, and I just can’t wait to see who she casts for this fan favorite small-town series.  Roma is a gifted artist whose creative eye is a joy for viewers!  Brava, Roma.”

Carr is a New York Times bestselling author of over sixty novels. Her new women’s fiction novel, The Friendship Club, was released in January 2024. Her books are published through Harlequin, a division of HarperCollins, the second largest book publisher in the world.

Ruth is repped by Empirical and Hall Webber LLP. Carr is repped by Liza Dawson Associates.
