Today, Samsung announced the newest member of its smartphone lineup, the Galaxy S25 Edge, at its Virtual Unpacked event. The tech giant confirmed all the specs and features of the phone, including an improved Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 display and an upgraded 200-megapixel camera, after months of teasing.

In a timely fashion, Verizon is offering a deal to get the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge for free. All you have to do is trade in any existing phone from Apple, Google, or Samsung in any condition, for current or new customers on Verizon's myPlan.

With this deal, Verizon offers a 3-year price lock on the base monthly price of the plan. That way, you don't have to worry about sudden price increases, and you'll also receive a free phone.

Currently, myPlans at Verizon can start at $30 a month. They include unlimited talk, text, and calling, additional add-ons for streaming services, personal hotspots, international calling, and more.

The new Galaxy S25 Edge is extremely capable and super thin, housing everything you need in a phone. It's also pretty stylish, with three sleek colors: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jetblack, and Titanium Icy Blue. ZDNET's Kerry Wan tested the handset ahead of the launch and praised the slim design.

"When held in hand, the Galaxy S25 Edge almost feels like an illusion. I've been so hardwired to a certain heft when holding phones with 6.5-inch+ displays that the Galaxy S25 Edge just doesn't feel real. Comparatively, my Galaxy S25 Ultra, which clocks in at 218 grams, is much more unwieldy, with sharper corners that dig into my palms and the ergonomics of a calculator."

If you want the latest and greatest, the new device can handle Samsung's suite of AI tools, categorized under Galaxy AI. Beyond the Gemini-integrated functions, Galaxy AI features tools for image and audio editing, text summarization and drafting, and more.

The new camera system, which includes a 200MP main lens and 12MP ultrawide camera, also features similar capabilities as the other Galaxy S25 models, such as Nightography and Samsung's ProVisual Engine. (ProScaler, an automatic resolution upscaling feature, is also present.).

You can buy the 256GB configuration of the Galaxy S25 Edge at a retail price of $1,099, while the 512GB option starts at $1,219. But with Verizon's trade-in offer, you can get the retail cost of the phone removed by turning in an eligible handset in any condition. Yes, that includes an iPhone 14 that's been dropped from the roof of a building.

How I rated this deal

This deal is great for individuals who like to have the latest tech right after it launches. With this deal, you get a free Samsung Galaxy S25 when you trade in any other smartphone from Apple, Samsung, or Google while being a new or existing Verizon myPlan customer.

The free phone saves you $1,100, while you still have to pay for a monthly plan. That is why I gave this deal a 4/5 Editor's Deal rating. I would utilize this deal if I were in the market for a new phone and wanted to purchase it through a reliable carrier and had a paid-off phone lying around.
