Valerie Bertinelli admits part of her body is 'deformed' after plastic surgeries

Valerie Bertinelli opened up about body image while discussing her memoir with Drew Barrymore this month.

The 65-year-old former Food Network star's book, Getting Naked: The Quiet Work of Becoming Perfectly Imperfect, was published on March 10.

And on the release day, she joined Barrymore in conversation at 92NY, where she opened up about her 'deformed' breasts.

She said, 'If you read the book, you’ll know that my boobs are deformed, and I talk very extensively and graphically about how deformed they are. I had four surgeries in 2024.'

Bertinelli exclaimed, 'My boobs suck, but I'm not dating, so it doesn’t matter,' before Barrymore emphasized that she's not dating 'yet.'

It comes after weeks ago the former actress revealed that she had a breast augmentation when she was in her late 20s.

In the pages of her book she writes about getting a boob job in the late '80s and having them removed in 2024.

'I liked it for a little while and then started to hate it,' she told People magazine ahead of the memoir's release date. 

'At a certain point, I had gained and lost so much weight that my boobs were just... I felt like they were down to my belly button. I was like, "I just want my small boobs back." 

Bertinelli had the implants removed, but she later developed a grave infection, requiring follow-up surgery.

'The look on my doctor's face when he finally saw me made me think, oh s**t, I guess I should have come in earlier. And he took everything out [the implant and the surrounding tissues] and then my breast became infected and started to cave in on itself. It became a crater,' she recalled.

'I have to have one more surgery to even them out,' the star noted about the ongoing ordeal.

Referencing her cats, she added, 'Me and these guys are the only ones looking at my boobs anyways, but I don’t care because I can’t see without my glasses on... I’ll have to date somebody who can’t see.'

'Anyway those were my boobs. Anybody want to date me? It was so serious I just had to find the humor in it,' she joked.

The media personality debuted a romance with writer Mike Goodnough in early 2024, but by November the pair split.

In a December 2024 Instagram photo, Bertineli posed wearing a black bra and underwear in a mirror selfie.

She captioned, 'At some point I will talk about the madness my body has been through this year.

'But right now every lump bump wrinkle and saggy part of me just feels acceptance and simple appreciation to be standing in front of a mirror in a hotel bathroom in downtown Manhattan ready to color my roots late on a Monday night.'

In anticipation of her book release, she said online in November 2025: 'It may feel like a scary experience letting it all hang out, physically and emotionally, for everyone to see (and judge), but for me, that’s the point.'
