Unboxing the DJI Osmo 360 II, and answering your questions

Earlier this month, DJI announced the Osmo 360 II, a second-generation version of its camera designed to capture everything around it. This week, the company held an event to show it off, where we’ve been able to get hands-on access to it.

It’s a relatively minor upgrade from its predecessor, with one of the most major updates being its user-replaceable lenses for greatly improved repairability. It can capture 360 video at up to 8K/60, and features a pair of square Type 1/1.1 (92mm²) sensors that, when stitched together, add up to roughly the same area as a 4:3 Type-1 (128mm²) sensor. Of course, unless you’re mainly shooting for the few people who still watch immersive video in a headset, you won’t be using that whole area (or even the majority of it) in most of its modes.
