Pilgrammed: The Raindrops is, in our opinion, one of the best examples of what a Roblox game should be. Someone with a passion wanted to create a world, fill it with secrets, and just let the players explore it with almost no hand holding, and we do mean that last part.
After you go through the short tutorial, you are left with a world that’s begging to be explored, but not exactly a safe one. Enemies are tough, combat is clunky, progression is very non-traditional, and it can be quite frustrating at times.
Because of this, we’ve devised this Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to help you along because we really don’t want you to quit on this game too early because it really is one of the best Roblox experiences we’ve had in a while.
You will die a lot
If you ever played a Souls game, you’ll know exactly what we mean. If you haven’t, just know that dying is part of the game. You will be out there exploring, and the next moment, you’ll end up dead because you pulled a strong mob, pulled too many of them, or the hit detection just didn’t work. These things happen.
Whenever you leave venture out of a safe zone in Pilgrammed: The Raindrops, know that there’s a very good chance you’ll die, and spawn back into camp. Once you accept this, you’ll start enjoying the game for what it is.
So what happens when you die? Not much. You lose half your gold, and some XP. Thankfully, you don’t lose your equipment or materials. In other words, dying is just an annoying inconvenience, so you shouldn’t let it bother you.
Don’t let losing your gold scare you. You can easily earn more, and more importantly, you can deposit your money in an outpost bank to keep it safe.
If something feels too difficult, it usually means you aren’t meant to do it just yet, so do something else and come back when you are stronger.
Melee, Ranged or Magic?
Why not all?
Normally, you need to pick a class or a specialization when you start a game like this, but Pilgrammed: The Raindrops doesn’t really have this. While you can equip armor and accessories that boost certain stats, and gain some passive skills, you aren’t exactly locked to how you need to handle combat.
So, what’s the best weapon type in this game? All of them combined. Yes, use magic until you run out of mana, then hit the enemies with a sword and then, as you run away, hit them with arrows or bullets, or pick any other combination of the three.
Combat in Pilgrammed: The Raindrops is very dynamic and you are encouraged to try everything. In fact, the game will let you reset skills, change loadouts and get almost anything in the game with very little effort, so take advantage of that.
Hit & Run combat
Despite having the option to use all weapons and skills, combat in Pilgrammed: The Raindrops is not great. When you aggro an enemy, they will just chase you, and spam hit you until you die. They can stun lock you quite easily and aggroing multiple enemies is very common.
The best method we found when it comes to handling combat is the “hit & run” tactic. As an enemy (enemies) are chasing you, cast spells and fire bullets at them with occasionally hitting them with a melee attack. By running away, not only do you avoid getting hit, but can also let your health recover on it’s own.
While it’s not heroic, this tactic has saved us too many times. So, when things get hairy, hit and run, until you win.
Special items are your friends
Don’t settle on just swords, wands and bows. Many other items can help you win battles faster. When you finish a quest or defeat a boss, they may just drop special items which you can use in battle. For example, after defeating the Thief King, you get his cape but also his Mischievous Vuvuzela which you can use to summon two thief minions to your aid. This was such an invaluable item to us, that we ended up using it in almost all our fights.
So, don’t just stop at your weapons, use EVERYTHING in combat (you’re gonna need it).
Let the Quests guide you
Like we’ve already established, Pilgrammed: The Raindrops doesn’t give you much direction on where to go next, but Quests can. If you aren’t sure where to go next, it may be a good idea to follow the quest markers. They can lead you to fights you aren’t ready for yet, sure, but more often than not, they will lead you to areas that are appropriate for your level. Not to mention, finishing Quests gives you a lot of XP, and sometimes even some special items like the ones we mentioned above.
When you discover a new outpost
Like when you discover a new bonfire in a Souls game, finding an outpost in Pilgrammed: The Raindrops is a special feeling because you know things are about to get easier. Here’s everything you need to do each time you discover (and revisit) an outpost.
- Set a new spawn location (if you want)
- Activate the fast travel mirror
- Deposit all your money (always do this!)
- Sell extra equipment and tools
- Buy new / upgrade existing equipment
- Customize Skills / Loadouts (if you need)
- Reforge equipment (if you want)
- Check for new quests
Do all of the above, especially when you discover a new outpost for the first time.
It’s more fun with friends
You can tackle most things on your own, but it’s always safer, and more fun, with friends or even strangers. If you’re really struggling with something, use the chat option and see if anyone else can help you. You never know, maybe someone else also needs help with the same thing.
There’s really no reason why you shouldn’t group with other people. Battles are safer, you all get the same loot, and it’s much harder to die.
That’s all there is to it. We didn’t want to say too much because we really want you to experience Pilgrammed: The Raindrops yourself, but with these tips, your journey should be a little safer. Keep an eye out for any Pilgrammed: The Raindrops codes and have fun adventuring.
