Though he has a particular affinity for multiplayer titles like World of Warcraft, Destiny 2 and League of Legends, he has also put thousands of hours into single-player experiences, from deep RPGs to epic PC strategies. There's no doubt that the Assassin's Creed series is one of the most iconic and immediately recognizable properties in video games, with millions of fans and plenty of games releasing since its debut in 2007. The next step in that storied history is the return of arguably the best game in the series, via a ground up remake that thrusts the title into the modern day.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is set to launch on July 7, returning players to the Golden Age of Piracy with updated visuals, improved gameplay and even new content. Ahead of its arrival, though, you might want to get in the mood by playing some of the other games in the series, and you won't even have to spend any of your hard-earned money to do so.

Over on the official Ubisoft website, the developer and publisher confirmed that they are running a free trial scheme for their Ubisoft+ subscription service. The trial is set to run from June 18-June 23 at the Premium tier, meaning you'll have access to everything in the company's extensive back catalog.

That includes 19 Assassin's Creed games from across the years, as well as other stunning titles from the Far Cry series, Tom Clancy games, Anno 117: Pax Romana, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and Star Wars Outlaws. In even better news, there's no obligation to keep going after the trial ends, so if you aren't convinced, you won't have to spend any money.

There are a few availability differences based on your region, with the full breakdown as follows:

  • North, Central, and South America: June 18 at 6:00AM PDT – June 23 at 6:00AM PDT
  • Europe and Middle East: June 18 at 3:00PM CEST – June 23 at 3:00PM CEST
  • Japan: June 18 at 10:00PM JST – June 23 at 10:00PM JST
  • Asia and Oceania: June 18 at 10:30PM ACST – June 23 at 10:30PM ACST

It's also worth noting that the deluxe edition of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced will also be added to the service to play on day one, so it's not a bad way to avoid paying the lump sum if there are other games.

Promo still for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced showing two ships in combat.

To participate, all you need to do is sign up for the service (if you aren't already), and then follow the links on the website or launcher to the free trial sign up. From there, you should be able to start playing Assassin's Creed until the end of the week, and there's certainly a lot worse you could do with your time.
