U2 and Ticketmaster have been branded 'greedy' by enraged fans after 'extortionate' tickets for their 2027 tour went on sale for over £400.

The Irish rock legends are performing in the UK for the first time in nine years with two shows at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next June, supported by indie band Wolf Alice.

However as pre-sale tickets went on sale on Wednesday morning, fans were left fuming at the expensive prices, with the general admission standing ticket priced at £437.

As a band U2 have a combined estimated net worth of $1.8billion (£1.34billion) with lead singer Bono one of the richest rockstars in the world with an estimated net worth of $700million (£520million).

Taking to Twitter to share their outrage one fan directly called out the band and Ticketmaster for their 'greed'.

They wrote: 'I'm sorry, but @U2, their promoter and @TicketmasterUK can go to hell with the £437 price-tag for general admission (not even front pitch!!!) standing tickets for their London show.

'Greedy robbing b*****s. Anyone paying that needs their head looking at.

It seems the U2 tickets have even surpassed the prices of the Oasis reunion tour, which left fans in uproar due to the use of 'dynamic pricing' - when cost is based on demand.

Eager fans were left raging after the price of standing tickets went up from £150 face value to £355 within hours due to the huge demand after the band announced they were reuniting in 2024.

Others wrote: 'Cheapest #U2 ticket I could get, which is right at the back of the stadium, was £400. Can’t afford/justify paying that';

'It was £440 for a seat today for London and not even vip';

'Thanks a lot @Ticketmaster @TicketmasterUK. Got in no problem for U2 with membership code only to see that the olny tickets left were GA but for  £437 EACH, not the £170 (already expensive) that was advertised.

'How on earth is this scam allowed?'; '£400 for a standing ticket for absolute disgrace'.

Another shared a screenshot of the Ticketmaster page as they wrote: 'No bother @U2… we are all made of money in these lush times.'

Another asked: 'Why don't @TicketmasterCS @TMFanSupport ask for your code before you join the queue?

'There's currently 330,000 people ahead of me in the #U2 presale queue just for the Saturday night in London. Have yet been asked to put in a code.'

The Daily Mail have contacted representatives for U2 and Ticketmaster for comment.

The Greatest Show On Earth tour will start in South America in February and March before heading to Europe and the UK from April until July.

The band have also promised to finish the tour in Ireland.

A band press release said that with plans ‘already in the works for 2028, the band is looking ahead to their all-important return home to Ireland’.

The group release their 16th album, Carnaval de Luz, on November 13, weeks after playing a secret concert at their old school, Mount Temple in Dublin.
