Beauty in Black changes its ending ahead of season 3.
Created by Tyler Perry, the drama series is about exotic dancer Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) and entrepreneur Mallory Bellarie (Crystle Stewart) whose lives intersect despite their different backgrounds, which greatly affects the rest of the powerful Bellarie family. In December 2025, it was announced that the show had been renewed for a third and final season. Perry previously shared that season 3 filming has already been completed, although a release date has not been set yet.
Now, Perry reveals via Netflix that the show has been renewed for season 4, meaning it will no longer conclude with the third season. In his statement, he explained that the story of the Bellarie family "is far from finished" and that there is a great deal more that he wants to explore. Check out his statement below:
Beauty in Black is back for Season 4 and the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished. There was so much more I wanted to explore and I’m grateful I get to keep telling this story. To the audience that has been on this ride with us from day one, thank you for watching and sharing it with the world. More episodes are on the way!”
No other details have been shared yet about season 4, but viewers can now watch the upcoming season knowing that it is not the end of the story and that there will still be more to come. The renewal also does not come with the caveat of it being the final season, so the show has the potential to even go beyond its most recent extension.
The series has been a major hit for Netflix, with season 1 spending seven weeks in the Global Top 10 and reaching number one in 28 countries. Beauty in Black season 2 maintained a similar level of streaming success by spending six weeks in the Global Top 10 and reaching number one in 17 countries.
While the show does not have a finalized critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, it has an overall audience score of 72%, which is considered "Fresh" by the metrics of the aggregation review site. Season 1 received a 61% score from more than 250 ratings, which was improved upon by season 2's 83% based on more than 100 ratings.
As for what audiences can expect in season 3, after Beauty in Black season 2's ending, the official logline is that "Kimmie finally has a seat at the Bellarie table, but when a deadly family feud erupts, she's forced into an uneasy alliance with Mallory. Together, they navigate a ruthless world of blackmail, revenge, and buried secrets as the family wages war against one of its own, threatening to bring the entire empire crashing down."
Along with creating Beauty in Black, Perry directs and writes all episodes, and is an executive producer as well. The cast members, alongside Polidore Williams as Kimmie and Stewart as Mallory, include Amber Reign Smith as Rain, Xavier Smalls as Angel, Rico Ross as Horace Bellarie, Julian Horton as Roy Bellarie, Steven G. Norfleet as Charles Bellarie, Richard Lawson as Norman Bellarie, Terrell Carter as Varney, Bryan Tanaka as Officer Alex, Charles Malik Whitfield as Jules, and Debbie Morgan as Olivia Bellarie. Angi Bones and Tony Strickland produce the show for Tyler Perry Studios.
Beauty in Black seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix.
