Twin Peaks icon Ray Wise enjoyed a rare outing in Los Angeles this week, 36 years after first appearing in the cult 90s David Lynch TV series.

The 79-year-old star, who played a father with a terrifying secret on Twin Peaks, was recently spotted taking his dog out for a walk on Monday in a quiet neighborhood in the city. 

The Akron, Ohio native kept it casual in a white t-shirt, black track pants and a pair of sneakers while rocking silver hair. 

He has appeared in films such as RoboCop (1987), X-Men: First Class (2011), Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003) as well as TV shows like Mad Men and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. 

The entertainer has also portrayed both the President of the United States in the game Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 (2000), and the Vice-President in the show 24 (2001). 

The father-of-two, who is of Romanian descent, has continued his Hollywood career, starring in two short films this year as well as on the long-running TV show The Young and the Restless.

Wise is best known for his role as the disturbing Leland Palmer in the genre-defying crime drama Twin Peaks. 

Leland initially appears to be a grieving father devastated by the murder of his teenage daughter, Laura, before the dark truth about his own actions is revealed.

The show aired only from 1990 until 1991 but developed a cult following. 

Wise also starred in the prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992). 

The American TV show, created by Lynch and Mark Frost, first hit screens in 1990 and soon became known for its unconventional storytelling, peculiar characters and bewildering tone.

Following the death of its legendary director last year, the classic has once again surged in popularity, with young people around the world now hailing it as 'the best of all time' online.

The hit show follows the fictional character, Dale Cooper, an eccentric FBI agent who visits the town of Twin Peaks to investigate the murder of Laura Palmer, a local 17-year-old school girl. 

The show, which is categorized as a surrealist mystery-horror drama, first premiered on 8 April 1990 on ABC, running for a further two seasons before eventually being cancelled a year later.

Later in 2017, the show was revived for a third season thanks to its widespread critical acclaim. 

Wise has also famously appeared alongside George Clooney in the film Good Night, And Good Luck (2005), and with Neil Patrick Harris in the show How I Met Your Mother. 

His other movie roles include The Journey of Natty Gann (1985), Dead End (2003), and God's Not Dead 2 (2016). 

Wise has been married to film producer Kass McClaskey since 1978.

The two have two children: son Gannon, who is an actor, and daughter Kyna, who is also an actress as well as a singer.
