Turkish TV Series ‘Vendetta’ Expands Global Footprint With Sales Reaching 70 Countries

Turkish TV series “Vendetta,” about a couple who are forced into marriage to end a blood feud between their families, is becoming a global hit, having expanded its footprint to over 70 territories with a latest round of sales, according to Istanbul-based Global Agency.

Now in its third season, the show mixing romance, passion, betrayal and revenge, stars Barış Baktaş and Yağmur Yüksel who play Dilan and Baran who agree to tie the knot in order to end their families’ hostility and then gradually realize that a tenuous spark they initially felt between them “is set to erupt into a powerful passion, which will either blossom into love or bring devastation,” as the synopsis puts it.

“Vendetta,” which is produced by Turkey’s Rains Pictures and Unik Film and plays locally on Kanal 7, is now a hit in key markets such as Georgia, Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, the CIS region, and Sub-Saharan Africa, where Turkish dramas typically reap great ratings. It ranks as the top prime time series in Georgia, according to Global Agency.

“We officially launched the series at MIPCOM last year, where we observed the strong interest it generated among international buyers and it quickly stood out as one of the most talked-about titles at the market” Global Agency chief Izzet Pinto told Variety. “It becomes one of the most-watched series in every country where it airs,” he said.

“The series is further strengthened by the remarkable global fan base of its lead actors, whose loyal followers continue to show strong engagement,” added Pinto, pointing out that “Vendetta” has built a highly engaged global fan base, amplifying its visibility and strengthening its connection with audiences across different regions.

The story highlights Dilan as a strong female lead, while the main actors — initially new faces — have rapidly gained huge popularity, building large fan bases and reaching over one million followers each on Instagram. 

Pinto also underlined that a significant portion of the “Vendetta” creative team, including the scriptwriters, is made up of women, “bringing a distinct and authentic female perspective to the storytelling.”
