EXCLUSIVE: Fox’s ad-supported streamer Tubi is getting a large shot in the arm in Canada.

The service has acquired more than 600 movies and TV shows for its on-demand library, tapping Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Discovery for the content.

“The future of streaming is about serving fandoms at scale,” said David Salmon, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, International, at Tubi. “As home to the largest library of movies and TV series in Canada, Tubi gives younger, multicultural consumers the breadth to explore everything they’re passionate about. The continued expansion of our market-leading library reinforces our commitment to championing every fandom, completely for free.”

Movies coming from Disney include Assassin’s Creed and Independence Day, with pics from Lionsgate including American Hustle, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Django Unchained, The Expendables franchise, The Fighter, Good Will Hunting, The John Wick franchise and Reservoir Dogs, as well as series The Tudors and Rogue.

From NBCUniversal comes Jurassic World, Pacific Rim Uprising, R.I.P.D, Split, The Invisible Man, The Mummy, Trolls and Trolls World Tour, and Wanted, along with drama series La Brea, while the Sony acquisitions include 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Air Force One, Bad Boys, Bad Boys II, The Equalizer, The Fifth Element, The Karate Kid franchise, Pineapple Express, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, This is the End and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and TV series Outsiders and Counterpart.

The WBD films include Catwoman, The Bodyguard, Demolition Man, The Departed, Edge of Tomorrow, The Fugitive, Geostorm, Get Smart, Godzilla, Little Nicky, Man of Steel, Pacific Rim, Selena, Snakes on A Plane and We’re The Millers, plus the series Gilligan’s Island and Maverick.

“We’re focused on building and evolving our studio partnerships to better serve fandoms with the movies and series they already love,” said Sam Harowitz, SVP of Content Acquisition and Partnerships at Tubi. “Working closely with our world-class content partners allows us to deliver a diverse slate of high-performing titles that keep audiences engaged and coming back to Tubi.”

The deals come soon after Tubi released the first edition of its study The Stream Canada, titled ‘The Stream 2026: When Intention Becomes Attention,’ which examines how streaming entertainment is influencing consumer behavior.

The report found that deep catalogs promoted rediscovery, cross-generational viewing and repeat engagement. Comedy (70%), action (64%) and crime shows/movies (63%) ranked as the top three genres across streaming in Canada.

Tubi has said its Canadian service has grown 30% year-over-year in monthly active users since 2020, and recently struck a long-term strategic partnership with Canadian content giant Bell Media.
