President Donald Trump remained largely quiet on Truth Social for much of Super Bowl Sunday, sharing only a brief message earlier in the day wishing Americans a happy Super Bowl.
That changed shortly after Bad Bunny’s halftime performance concluded. Trump weighed in forcefully, delivering a blistering and lengthy critique of the performance that quickly drew attention across social media. He described the halftime show as “absolutely terrible” and “one of the worst, EVER,” arguing that it failed to reflect what he called “the Greatness of America.” The president claimed the performance did not meet national standards of “Success, Creativity, or Excellence,” while also criticizing the choreography and music. Trump’s comments came during Super Bowl LX, where the Seattle Seahawks are facing off against the New England Patriots at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. More than 120 million viewers nationwide were expected to tune in to watch the game and its highly anticipated halftime performance, headlined by the Puerto Rican superstar.
The president’s remarks arrived amid broader controversy surrounding this year’s halftime programming. Earlier in the evening, Turning Point USA’s planned alternative broadcast, coined the “All-American Halftime Show," pivoted from streaming on X just hours before it was set to air. According to The Independent, the conservative nonprofit cited licensing restrictions for the sudden change and redirected viewers to watch the show live on YouTube instead.
