Triple M radio star Carly Portch breaks down in tears as she reveals she's been sacked after 15 years on air - and listeners are fuming: 'Heartbreaking'

Carly Portch has broken down after revealing that she has been axed from her Triple M radio slot. 

The radio host and producer, who has worked across Triple M and the Hit Network and hosted Triple M Breakfast with Robbie Von, learned the news of her sacking on Wednesday. 

In an emotional video shared on TikTok this week, Portch said she was 'nervous' about her future after working in radio for the past 15 years. 

'Yesterday me and my co-host were pulled into a meeting and given the option of doing our final show today,' she began. 

'Radio has been my comfort zone for the last 15 years. It's allowed me to connect with people,' she continued.

'It's allowed me to scratch that pop culture itch that I've always had and share celeb gossip, as superficial as that feels.

'It's allowed me to fundraise for causes that I care deeply about. It's allowed me to travel this great country...' Portch trailed off, before breaking down in tears. 

'It's allowed me to feel genuine human connection with people each morning,' she went on through tears.

'I know people have their opinions about radio, but I have witnessed firsthand how it brings people in communities together, and to be a part of that has been amazing. 

'I would be lying if I said I'm not going to miss it, and that I'm not nervous for what comes next.'

Portch said she will now focus on her podcast, called Unpacked & Oversharing with Carly Portch, which she started at the beginning of the year as a passion project. 

'I realised a big part of what I do in radio, I can literally do here, which is connecting with people, creating things, sharing pop culture and interviewing people,' she said. 

She then urged people who enjoyed her radio show to follow her online and engage with her podcast. 

There was plenty of support for the radio star in the comments section of her TikTok video, with many fans upset about her show's cancellation. 

'You will both be sadly missed. I loved listening to you two every morning and loved the music you played. This sucks,' wrote one person. 

Another said: 'Sad to hear they let you go, still remember when you were on Hot FM Rocky many years ago.

'Keep your head up Carly, you're a great announcer and I am sure another network will snap you up in no time'. 

'OMG!! Tell me it's April fools!! I hope you are doing okay Carly! The show you and Robbie had was amazing!' wrote someone else. 

'You know what? You'll probably miss radio, but we'll miss you even more. You were a part of our daily lives and you'll always be a radio legend to us. Thank you for 15 amazing years,' penned one fan. 

One angered listener wrote: 'It's bulls***t. The radio bosses don't bother to think of all your wonderful and loyal listeners that don't get a chance to process this information and have a chance to say goodbye.' 

'This was heartbreaking to hear this morning. You guys make my mornings, and you're always so lovely when I've called through. This won't be the end for you, no matter what you do, you'll be great,' said someone else.
