TRATON selects Ripple Treasury to replace spreadsheet-based forecasting across Volkswagen’s truck division

2 weeks ago 11

Volkswagen’s commercial vehicle division, TRATON Group, has chosen Ripple Treasury as its new forecasting management platform, swapping out a patchwork of roughly 20 separate Excel spreadsheets for a single, centralized system. For a company that pulled in more than €40 billion in revenue in 2024, the fact that its treasury team was still copy-pasting between Excel files is both remarkable and entirely unsurprising to anyone who has worked in corporate finance.

The deal, finalized in August 2026, represents one of the highest-profile enterprise wins for Ripple Treasury since Ripple acquired the platform (then known as GTreasury) for $1 billion in late 2025.

What TRATON is actually getting

TRATON operates some of the most recognizable names in commercial vehicles: Scania, MAN, and Volkswagen Truck & Bus. Ripple Treasury replaces that fragmented approach with a unified platform designed for automated data collection and a centralized audit trail. TRATON’s updated 2025 revenue figure stands at €44.05 billion.

The deployment will leverage Ripple Treasury’s GSmart feature, an AI-driven analytics layer that provides forecasting insights. According to September 2026 data, GSmart adoption rates among eligible customers have reached 60% for Risk Insights and 44% for Forecast Insights.

Ripple Treasury claims some deployments can go live in as little as 90 days. The platform currently processes over $100 billion in daily transactions and supports more than 1,000 businesses across 40-plus countries.

Why Ripple bought a treasury platform in the first place

Ripple Treasury’s core functionality is conventional treasury management: cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and risk analysis. The TRATON deployment is focused explicitly on forecasting standardization and process automation, not on tokenization or crypto integration. The platform does also support digital asset capabilities, and Ripple has been deliberate about building infrastructure that can bridge traditional finance and crypto-native tools when clients are ready.

The bigger picture for enterprise treasury

The shift toward unified treasury platforms has been accelerating, driven partly by regulatory pressure for better financial controls and partly by the availability of AI-powered analytics. GSmart’s adoption rates suggest that treasurers are actively using its intelligence features rather than leaving the software unused after onboarding.

The competitive landscape in treasury management includes established players like Kyriba, ION Treasury, and FIS. Ripple Treasury’s stated differentiation is the combination of conventional TMS functionality with digital asset support.
