Training Day actress Charlotte Ayanna was arrested last week after she supposedly spread human ashes in a residence and kicked a deputy.

The incident is said to have unfolded October 8 when the authorities were performing a welfare check in West Hollywood, law enforcement sources told TMZ.

An accuser claimed to deputies that Ayanna battered him and threatened his life, as well as that she spread human ashes in the home, the insiders asserted.

Over the course of the investigation, Ayanna, 50, whose legal name is Charlotte Lopez, also purportedly  kicked a deputy, according to law enforcement.

Sources said her arrest was carried out on suspicion of battery on a peace officer, depositing human remains outside a cemetery, elder abuse and criminal threats.

Court records viewed by the Daily Mail indicate she was charged Monday with misdemeanor counts of battery on an adult person, elder or dependent adult cruelty and battery on a peace officer, and that she has pled not guilty.

Ayanna was released on her own recognizance the day the charges were filed against her, according to legal records seen by the Daily Mail.

'It was an unfair illegal false arrest,' she told TMZ. 'Not only was I never read my rights, including the Miranda rights, but I was never even interviewed to talk to.'

Ayanna, who TMZ reports had her bail set at $50,000, is now scheduled for a pretrial hearing November 2, per court records viewed by the Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail has contacted Ayanna's representatives and public defender, as well as the prosecutor, the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department for further comment.

Ayanna is best known for her role as the wife of Ethan Hawke's character in Training Day, the classic 2001 film about police corruption led by Denzel Washington.

She also worked with Adrien Brody, Pam Grier and August Diehl in the film Love the Hard Way and featured in the video for Ricky Martin's She's All I Ever Had.

Charlotte Lopez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and grew up largely in Vermont with a mother she described as a schizophrenic alcoholic to CNN.

Her hardscrabble upbringing included time in the foster care system, which led to her first bout of public notoriety as a teenage beauty queen.

'The pageant was such a fluke,' she said. 'I mean, I was living in an orphanage, and my foster mother bet me $150 to go out for this thing. Nobody, including myself, though that a foster kid could be a beauty queen.'

She entered the Miss Teen Vermont contest and won, triggering the chain of events that culminated in her being crowned Miss Teen USA in 1993.

Her movies included the 2001 romantic comedy Kate & Leopold, starring Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman, as well as the 1999 dark comedy Jawbreaker, which was led by the trio of Rose McGowan, Rebecca Gayheart and Julie Benz.

On television, she made guest appearances on such iconic shows of the 1990s and 2000s as Weird Science; Beverly Hills, 90210 and Entourage.
