Tottenham Hotspur’s 2026/27 Premier League season is now four matches old, and the club has yet to score a single goal. A 0-0 draw at home against Everton on September 12 extended what is quickly becoming one of the most alarming starts to a season in recent Spurs history.
The result leaves Tottenham sitting on just one point from four matches, with zero wins, one draw, and three losses. For a club that invested heavily over the summer under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, that’s the kind of return that turns optimism into outright concern faster than you can say “spursy.”
A familiar story at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Tottenham dominated possession at 62%, peppered the Everton goal with 14 shots, and still couldn’t put the ball in the net. Only two of those 14 attempts actually tested Jordan Pickford, who had a relatively comfortable evening between the posts.
Everton managed 13 shots but put just three on target. The draw keeps Everton unbeaten through their opening three matches of the season, with one win and two draws to their name.
An attendance of 60,477 filled the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Antonín Kinský kept a clean sheet in goal for Spurs, with Lucas Bergvall coming off the bench as a substitute.
De Zerbi’s early crisis
Roberto De Zerbi was brought in as manager after Tottenham narrowly avoided relegation last season, finishing 17th and escaping by just two points following three managerial changes during 2025/26. Tottenham’s previous results this season include defeats to Brentford and Newcastle, plus a scoreless draw with Nottingham Forest. Four matches, zero goals.
The summer transfer window was supposed to provide solutions, with significant investment made to reshape the squad in De Zerbi’s image. But the early evidence suggests the new arrivals haven’t yet gelled into anything resembling a functional attacking unit.
