It’s a month since Tom Holland shared a look at his new Spidey suit and filmed an action scene while swinging through a city street in front of a crowd, but excitement surrounding Spider-Man: Brand New Day remains at an all-time high.
Fans have hailed his fourth film as Spider-Man a kind of renaissance for Marvel, with some creating numerous photoshopped edits of Holland that exude aura, as the kids say. Turns out, Holland has been lurking on fans’ internet posts for inspiration in the hopes of delivering the Spider-Man that fans deserve.
In an interview with LADbible, Holland revealed that he’s been delightfully annoying Brand New Day producers about online feedback from fans about Spider-Man and how he’ll approach his latest turn in the role.
“I have been actively sifting through the internet and trying to best understand what it is that the fans want from a Spider-Man movie, and that’s been my driving force in these pitch meetings,” Holland told LADbible. “I think the producers, at times were like, absolutely sick of me, but I think it’s really important, because we make these movies for [the fans].”
Holland was unusually tight-lipped about which of the Spider-Man comics the new film will take most inspiration from, and he seemed to dodge a question about how much longer he plans on donning the webslinger’s mask.
“I think with anything, it’s all about what’s in front of you, and right now what’s in front of us is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and focusing on making that movie worthy of the last film,” Holland said.
In discussing his new Spider-Man suit, the actor mentioned that he played a significant role in its design. Holland noted the suit’s meticulous detailing, which appears to lift the webbed design elements from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s suits.
“What’s been really fun about this most recent movie is designing the suit and being a part of that process and understanding what we wanted to try and achieve,” Holland said.
In addition to Holland, Brand New Day will see the return of Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, in addition to Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, and Michael Mando’s Scorpion. Also joining the film’s cast are Tramell Tillman (Severance), Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), and Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear)
Combine all this with Games Radar’s report that Jackie Chan’s action team is collaborating on Spider-Man: Brand New Day after their work with director Destin Daniel Cretton on Shang-Chi, and fans have even more reason to be excited about what Marvel has in store.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
