Tom Hanks is hard at work filming his long-awaited sequel to the hit 2020 World War II movie Greyhound, but it’s only one of many iconic films he’s starred in over the years. Hanks is a two-time Oscar winner and has been nominated several times over the years for his performances in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Cast Away, Saving Private Ryan, and more. He’s also one of the highest-grossing actors of all time, largely thanks to his role in the Toy Story franchise, and he can safely say he’s had one of the greatest careers of any Hollywood actor, ever.

One of Hanks’ crowning achievements came in 1994, when he starred in Forrest Gump, widely hailed as the greatest Vietnam War movie ever made. The film follows the life of a young man with an IQ of 75, from his early days struggling to fit in to his time in the Army in Vietnam, and finally as he raises his son with the love of his life, and also without her. Forrest Gump won six Oscars at the 1995 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Lead Actor (Hanks), Best Director (Robert Zemeckis), Best Adapted Screenplay (Eric Roth), Best Editing, and Best Visual Effects.

Most movie fans in America don’t have to worry about whether they can watch Forrest Gump, as the film currently has three streaming homes. At the time of writing, it’s available to watch on Paramount+, Prime Video, and even Netflix. Forrest Gump is also charting in the VOD top 10 in several countries around the world on both iTunes and Google. It earned scores of 75% from critics and 95% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it grossed $678 million at the box office against a $55 million budget.

What Do We Know About ‘Greyhound 2’?

Little is known at this time about Greyhound 2, the WWII sequel to Tom Hanks’ 2020 movie that has quietly become one of Apple’s most successful streaming hits. However, news broke yesterday that the film is now in production in Australia, and that Stephen Graham and Elisabeth Shue are returning for the sequel. Robin Hood’s Jack Patten will also star, and Hanks is once again writing the script. Plot details are currently being kept under wraps, but more information will likely be made available in the coming months.

Be sure to watch Forrest Gump on Netflix, Prime Video, or Paramount+ in America and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
